So I've been playing MW2 online since it first came out.  I am seriously tired of people bitching about hackers every single time they die.  This morning I had a guy yelling because he said that he knifed me and I didn't die.  Well bud you probably missed.

Here's the thing though, this morning I watched a guy jumping 20 feet in the air consistently and firing his M203 like it was an MK-19!  He didn't even need to take the 2 seconds to reload and seemed to have unlimited ammo.  The kill cam showed it all.

Why am I wasting my time with this?  So when you're playing the game, don't bitch every time you die unless it's blatant hacking.  I've logged more than 50 hours in this game and have only seen real hacking once.

Damn. That's a pretty sweet hack...

What system?

Yea I've seen that on PC.  Some guy turned up gravity and full auto M203's.  Also there was one hacked server where you get 1 kill and it leveled you to 70, and just keep prestige over and over.

PS# player here, no hacking issues there, is just the way some people play. i don't complain much on it. COD4 for PC on the other hand; is a hackfest and you have them in droves. Main reason i ditched the PC for gaming and went with a PS3 instead.

I play MW2 on PC. There are some real hackers (when a clan that's all level 10 prestige joins, that's not a good sign), but really not that many. Less than most other FPS games I've played.

I think it's pretty funny though –– I'm OK at the game, but a lot of my friends are very good (e.g. 20+ nukes), so they get called hackers a lot. They think it's funny, one of my friends had his name set as "H4X > YOU" for a while.

Now that looks fun, as long as everyone is playing by the same rules. It would be a nice break from the traditional style of play. But alas, I have ps3.

Yeah I forgot to say that it was on the PC and that video was the exact hack used.  I thought that the game had an anti hacking mechanism built in to it....how can you do something to blatant?

I'm obviously wrong here but it seems that they could make it harder to hack into the game to change settings.  The very same day that a game comes out there are already pirated versions of it allowing you to bypass the code.

When someone logs onto MW2 to play online, IWnet or whatever it is should verify that nothing has been changed within the game.  It seems simple to me.  Once again I know that I am wrong though.

I play on Xbox. Most often lag is the cause of the "I knifed you but you didn't die" complaint. But nothing ruins this game more than the endless waves of air support from the care package glitches.

Seems cool, but I heard everyone who was in that server was banned by VAC a month or two ago during the Great Purge.

I agree 100% when you get shot by someone instead of bitching try giving them props for having some skill, on the other hand people who do cheat/hack you fucking suck just play the game the way your suppose too or GTFO !

It's not a glitch, it's a feature of the game.

I don't use it because it's lame, but it's not a "glitch." A glitch, for example, would be accessing an area of the map you weren't intended to. You are supposed to duck and run faster with a care package.

With all the PC gaming hype I hear about; "WAY better graphics", "Dedicated servers", "More people per/game", etc..............I'm glad I'm on console.  We don't have near as much bullshittery.  I wouldn't even bother playing at all, knowing douchebags are hacking.  What's the point in playing "fair" against people who are hacking and making themselves invincible and have unlimited ammo and whatnot?

I don't know the technical definition of "glitch" as far as gaming.........but it seemed like a glitch to me.  The super-speed sprint from the CP Marker was patched, on PS3 anyway.

I play PC games exclusively. The best thing, by far, is aiming with a mouse.

I would say less than one in twenty games (< 5%) I'm in has a hacker in it.

Same......mouselook/mouseaim wins. But watching a guy on killcam track you THROUGH A BUILDING (not a random burst through a wall, but he's tracking you very specifically) then shoot you through the wall blind, or do something wild like the spinning jumping headshot on full auto.....

that does get old at times.

Playing on PC defiantly has its perks.  Aiming with a mouse is much more efficient than with your thumbs on controls.  And I would argue that the level of competition is higher on a PC because to play a modern game you need to spend at the very minimum $1000.  It's a lot easier for someone that doesn't understand how to play to pay $200 for an Xbox.

To have played 50+ hours and to only encounter 1 hacker I would say that it's not worth it to move to consoles.

Yes, people us lag switches but they are easy to spot. Just look for the guy skipping around the map ten feet at a time. As far as the line of fire issue, you're just in a room with a shitty ping speed. Which is a lag of a different color. If you're using wireless, go get a cable, if will help (not stop) you getting into shitty rooms.

For me, if it's not blatant aimbotting I doubt they're hacking. If I'm killed multiple times running around with ninja pro + cold blooded I'll start watching killcams and then you can normally spot a waller.

Thanks.

Its my connections.  DSL, and I ping around 100ms usually.  Nothing I can do about as this is where I chose to live ( I wanted to live in the stick with my own shooting range) and when you live out here, there aren't many options.

I might see if their business DSL packages are any better.

When Quake 3 came out on the Dreamcast, there was a way to get on the dreamcast servers from the PC. It was hilariously awesome.

That being said, I pretty much only game on the 360 now. The convenience factor and integration of Live are worth it. Voice chat is built in to everything and you can switch between game chat, party chat, private chat, etc. You can group up parties of friends and jump from game to game or even to netflix to watch movies and stuff. If you want to get a game together you can easily see who you know that is online to invite. You can set up meta-lists of gamertags to friend and then invite everyone in that list. Microsoft has done a really great job with it, and every dashboard update adds something else cool to the mix.

We all play together with Skype for voice, and Steam has brought a lot of the same functionality of dashboard to PC games. I can right-click a person in my friends list and click "Join Game" and it fires up the game and puts me in the game with them.

In response to TheGunCollector as my Quoting skills seem to be full of fail.
Changing to a business plan isn't going to help latency. Your phone line quality and distance from the DSLAM are what effect your latency when it comes to DSL. Also, assuming your DSL provider is anything like the ones around here the Business Packages are just higher bandwidth and better tech support.

A PC is way harder to obtain than an Xbox.  I'm arguing that the person that can build a (at the VERY minimum $1000) PC or knows to buy one that's not just sold on the shelf of Best Buy has better gaming sense than someone who pays someone $200 for a used Xbox and tries out the newest game that everyone is talking about.

I agree that the boosting, glitching and hacking are for the not-so-well endowed...

I used to be a PC gamer, then I got married and had kids, mortgage, student loans, you get the picture.  I can no longer afford to spend $500 to $1000 on a PC and continue to update RAM, video cards, etc. because of the continous strain on systems that newer games are constantly bringing due to better graphics, better engines, etc.

For me, I'd rather take a hit on the graphics and have a console that plays all the games designed for it rather than hoping my outdated computer can handle a certain game.  Admittedly, there are way more kids and general asshatery in the form of boosting and glitching on consoles, but conversely way more hacking on PC.  Can anyone say counterstrike?  One of my favorite games on the PC that was ruined way too many times by aimbots, wallhacks, etc.  It's a toss up really, both have selling points and both have drawbacks.  I do have to say that keyboard and mouse are way more accurate for me, but I do pretty well with the controllers.

I love playing on the PC(a mouse is a must).  There are some hackers, but the vast majority are serious about the games. I can play Hardcore Team Deathmatch without having guys decide to tube their teammates.

I have played MW2 quite a bit on PS3 and believe a good chunk of people playing are usually thugs, children, or idiots.  I have to go through my routine of muting everyone because someone is always playing their music through their mic, echoing really bad or sneezing/coughing.  You just don't find that on the PC.  The ones who take the game seriously get screwed quite often in my opinion.

I haven't played on a 360 so I have no comment.

Edit: The aim assist just makes your crosshairs stick to an enemy a bit, say if you're spinning, you will slow down a bit when your crosshairs pass over an enemy.
