Kid has the bug, whats a good one out there.
I have a pretty rockin' rig so graphics shouldn't be an issue. PC thx |

You can download Combat Wings: Battle of Britain from STEAM for only $4.99. It's more of a arcade type game than a flight sim,
but it's easy to learn and you do a lot of shooting. And it looks pretty good when you set everything on high.

Quoted: For World War Two, go with 1946 For modern day stuff, Lock-On: Modern Air Combat Gold. do not get your kid lock on unless he's the most patient person ever. seriously, its one complicated game but so fun when you learn it. f15 and a10 ftmfw! +1 for il2 1946, scales great and is still an awesome game. |

True. But beware the 109. That thing will stall and go into a spin if you look at it funny... |

True. But beware the 109. That thing will stall and go into a spin if you look at it funny... That's just because IL2 1946 has very realistic flight modeling. The 109 was always known to be tempermental. Just watch for a little bit of headshake/wobble & you'll know that you're pushing it too hard. Or you could just go into the options & make it easier to fly.

A few things that irk me being a 190 fan in this game is: A.) The 190 A-4 model is faster in real life at all alt than the 109 F and G6 but in the game the 190 is a real slug. B.) The absurd temperamental pitch that induce flat spins - I've never heard any mention by any of the old luftwafffe pilots stating anything besides the 190 was a smooth stable aircraft with a terrific roll rate but poor high altitude perfromance and yet in this game it loses its wing quite readily and stalls and spins like its no ones business. C.) the Dora 9 model though a high altittude fighter, in IL 2 handles like a the Queen Mary at altitude but is very nimble low to the ground and still has the absurd flat spin. D.) All the lat e Russian aircraft have absurdly high roll turn climb and dive rates even compared with the late model mustangs, spitfires, and F4u- I think Oleg Maddox may be have shown a little too much homerism. E>) The P39s were considered garbage aircraft of very light construction, poor climbing ratio, and not very stable due to its mid mounted engine - again in this game the P39s perform like monkey acrobats for the Russians. F.) The 109 was a very agile and stable fighter in the air the only mishandlings were while landing because of its narrow gear. ETA If anyone flies online let me know, I think I want to give it a try! |

Thankfully we will some western theatre action now, IMHO that was the biggest fault in IL2, along with the Russian aircraft being highly over modeled. Please tell me its gonna cover more than just the Battle of Britain? I'd love me some P38s and P47 over France. |

Quoted: Arma II ![]() It is fun to have real players on the ground while helping them in the air, while they paint targets for you to desecrate. Just make sure to have a good controller or its monumentally hard. Woot - another ARMA player. Did you see this thread? http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=119&t=941359 |
