So my Xbox 360 took a dump today while playing COD4 on Live. ![]() The picture started to turn purple and the graphics started getting weird. Went to the dashboard, everything looked funky. Tried putting in GTA 4, same issue. Restarted console...now I get nothing, no sound or picture. Tried factory AV cable...only get sound. Tried upconvert DVD player with HDMI cable, works fine. Tried PS2 in AV ports on TV, works fine. Tried watching regular TV, works fine. So I know it's not the TV or the ports on it. And it's not the HDMI cable. Called Xbox and now I'm waiting for a shipping label so I can mail this POS out. If nobody sees me on LIVE for 2-3 weeks, you know why. ![]() spooky556 |

That sucks man, I hear about this alot, usually right before I take the step to buy za 360, I guess they are all warning signs and I should take heed. This is one of the main reasons that I got a ps3. I hear they have great customer service and redily take them back, I would rather just not have to deal with it. |
Yeah I had a shipping label emailed to me within minutes after getting off the phone with xbox. Luckily I still have 3 months left on the warranty. Good timing for it to die I guess. A friend had the same exact issue, he was told the graphics card went bad. |
+1 It's great that MS has such good customer service...but I'd rather not deal with the RRoD in the first place - so I went with Sony quality and got a PS3 |
I never got the red lights. If it was dead of winter right now, I'd just go get a PS3 while I wait... Too many other things to do in the summer though. Somewhere I read that 2 out of 3 360's have been sent back for repairs. |
Mine just went back for a second time due to hardware failure.MS has been great about it but...sheesh! |
| Yeah, I was told before buying that PS3 was glitchy and had some problems. And after I bought it I had several people tell me that XBOX was "A more stable platform" and other crap. I have read a couple of horror stories online, and never met anyone who had to send thier PS3 back. Glad I made the choice I did. |
Yeah...just think about it logically. When I think Sony - I think quality - walkmans, TV's, etc. When I think MS - I think buggy fucked up shit...Windows anyone?

MY 360 elite's USB circuit board went tits up the other day, should be getting it back from MS soon. They are QUICK on repairs, but it does suck about hardware failures. Even with the failures though, I just enjoy my 360 more than a PS3... Its all personal preference really, its just the games. 90% of the Ps3 Games are not my cup of tea, 90% of the 360 games ARE. Sure my 360 will go out at one point or another, but for a platform i like more than the other and at a cheaper price, i'll gladly send it in to MS for 2 weeks. |
Odd, I've had 3 PS3 units go tits up on me in the past month compared to the 2 360s that happened over a 2 year time frame. ![]() I've pretty much decided that after I beat MGS 4 on extreme my PS3 will be going to the pawn shop. 1st unit died the 2nd day I had it. Can't even cut the thing off when it freezes without killing the diode. 2nd unit died the 4th day I had it. screen started flickering and finally got to the point that I couldn't even get to the "dashboard" 3rd unit just died on the 4th last week, worked fine for about half a month, then it just stopped reading discs. It's a damn shame too, I was having so much fun with MGO. |
When I think Sony I think douchebag copyright laws with no concern for the consumer. And Windows works fine if you aren't retarded. |
There are three certain things in life - death, taxes, and the blue screen of death. Retarded or expert - nobody can avoid Windows locking up. I mean, it's not Linux after all.

Haven't had a BSOD in years using XP. |
This happened to me earlier, this problem. I had mine back in less than one week. It was awesome. |
As with anything electronic and/or mechanical. The difference is one out of every few hundred PS3 and Wii customers has a problem, whereas one out of every three 360 customers has a problem. |
The Wii doesn't count, as its barely anything to call home about hardware wise. |
The only time I've had a BSOD was when a fan went out on my PC and it overheated. I love to bash winblows and microsucks as much as the next guy but only if it's warranted. |
Sounds like you have some bad luck or bad wiring......Or work for microsoft!!! |
Going by failure rates there's a 1 in 1500 chance that could happen to him through fault of the hardware. Has to be doing something wrong with his setup (not enough ventilation area, possibly), has shitty electricity, or something along those lines. Or is just trolling since he doesn't even know the XMB's name. |
