I play some when the weather is agreeable. Tippmann is the best gun for the money IMHO, and I'm sure the majority will agree. Here in Louisiana feild fees for a quality paintball place are around 15.00$ not including paint (it depends on hiw much you shoot). Speed ball is about two times the size a tennis court full of inflatable objects, most people spray and pray, waste tons of paintballs. Not my cup of tea.

Yeah speedball sucks.  I play scenerioball in the jungle like woods out in private lands.  We have tippmans, but are moving to the new RAM 4 markers.  Theres a new previously LE version that is now available to the public that shoots .40 and .43 size rounds as opposed to .68, and at 400fps.  Very fast, very accurate, as compared to normal guns.   I'm sure they dont feel good either.   Also they use magazines, and you hand load each round.  The holders eject like brass.  You can use your real gear and adopt as its the same size as far as magazines, vests, mounted rail optics, etc.

depends how how and what types of games u want to play. also what lvl u want to play i would recommend angel, timmy, or any other high end unless u play often and tournements. tippmans are good guns but spyders are my beginner choice

Not to hijack the thread but where on-line is a good place to get a painball gun. I myself would like to spend about $150 on a gun. Nothing serious, just something to shut my girlfriends little brother up when he starts thinking he is the best paintballer in the world.

Looking at:

Tippman

Spyder

Opinions on which model and a fair price on these makers.

It would be difficult to really light him up in your $$$ range but any of the E-Spyders should cover you really unless he's got a high dollar rig.

For $260'ish you could paint him up nice in warm weather (Cold weather costs more for HPA)

2004 Imagine $120
Kingman ACS Bolt $30
J&J Perf Ceramic barrel $30
Evo 2 Hopper $60
20 oz $20

All those prices should be around the shipped prices.

You should be able to get the max for the board in the marker of 14 balls per second.

That's about the best "shutter upper" for the $$$ I can find.

I was looking at the Tippman A5 today. E-bay sells them for around $229, whoever the guy is on there has a bunch at this price. These are new in the box, I like the look of the marker with the mp5ish style grip and such.

Any good?

The A5 is a great gun and can be completely customized to your performance and looks preference.  If you have time on your hands check out the A5 Owners group board.   www.a5og.net

Here is a pic of our group from this past sunday.

I was looking at the same gun Tippmann A-5. I like the grip too. I would/am going to get the flatline barrel system first thing. I like distance and accuracy as a combination.

I would have to agree that Tippman are about the best newbee guns.  You may also want to look at JT, and Spyder.  Just beware of the A5, it has an automatic feeder built in, personally, I don't like it very much.  I've not played very much lately, but at one time I was tournament quality with guns and trophies to prove.  One guy mentioned something about a good warm weather gun, what he was reffering to is CO2 being cold, some guns tend to freeze up which is a nightmare, especially if you are playing.  Not only will you not be able to fire your weapon, your gun will experience blow-by effect giving away your position, and that really pissed me off.  If you want to eliminate this, you can spend major money upgrading to Nitro.  Depending on where you live, you shouldn't experience a problem if you keep your gun well maintained.  If you do, speak with your local hobby store or paintball retailer and there are items you can purchace and have done that are quite enexpensive.  That should keep you under $150 to $200.  For you guys that don't like Speed ball very much, I have something for you to try, go to your local speedball course, play hopper ball.  All they ammo you have is what is in your hopper!  It makes things very interesting, also remember if you are out of ammo you're not out of the game, you can still get points by you being in and you may be the one to capture the flag!hippie.gif

Forget the Tippmans and M4 copies
these are entry level guns and a waste of time IMHO
just spend the money and get an electric marker like the Impulse
My friend and I recently got back into paintball
He got a tippman A5 then one of those A16 copies (POS) and I got a vision impulse
Few months later he's looking to buy an Impulse or other marker of similar quality

If you 10 years old and just want to play 2 or 3 times a year then by all means buy an A5.
If you want to play a lot and have a chance against better players get a higher level electronic marker

If you have any questions e-mail me
Im going tomorrow
