I've considered getting it just to see what all the fuss is about. I missed out on the whole pokemon craze, but an augmented reality hunting game might be fun regardless of the subject matter. I downloaded it for the same reason and did a little googling/playing. Basically, it uses your gps to put you on a game map and when the map spawns a pokemon near you it switches over to your phone's camera when you click on it. Then it places the pokemon in your room and you have to throw a pokeball at it to capture it and add it to your collection. There are shops at certain "landmarks" in your city where you can acquire items to raise a pokemon from an egg, attract pokemon to you so you don't have to travel, etc. Then there are "gyms", areas where you can leave your pokemon to control until someone else comes along and tries to take it from you and fights your pokemon. You can level up your pokemon to make this more difficult, or easier, depending on if you're offence or defense. |

It has been decent so far. I'm liking it. It found a dead body 3 hours from me. I bet there will be some car crashes because of this game. Make it Pokemon Road Kill and I am there... Have them running back and forth on the street and I can practice lining up and running them over? Fun! Who knows maybe we can get these installed in Prius' and have all the pokemon be on the far right hand side of the freeways so the damn Prius drivers will get out of the left lane???? Game is an interesting concept though. Got lots of potential to be a billion dollar idea same as the Clash of Clans company. |

Secret society theme with two teams (.gov vs. hacktivists basically). It was extremely similar to the pokemon game (AR, GPS, etc), but this will be way more successfuly because it's an established franchise already, and you can do stuff even if you live out in the sticks. With ingress there were nodes and such which are basically in all the same spots as the pokemeon shops/gyms (goes off of google page views or similar i'm sure). However, in Ingress you HAD to be at one of those places to do anything. With pokemon at least you can play around your house/apartment. I'm sure they're already raking in a ton of money. Niantic didn't really have any problems with servers on Ingress, but they can't seem to keep them up for long with pokemon, implying a huge server load. |

Little tips for people starting out:
1. Don't even worry about leveling up your pokemon's CP level until your character is at least level 10. Even then I wouldn't recommend it for a while unless you're really interested in Gym Battles. Stardust is extremely valuable and the stardust you use now will be wasted once you start finding higher CP Pokemon in the wild. Resist the urge to level up your Pokemon right now and it will pay off later. 2. The fastest way to level right now is to evolve pokemon and catch new pokemon. Save up a bunch of pokemon that require minimal amounts of candy to evolve (Pigeot and Weedle are the lowest I've seen at 12 candies for an evolution), pop a Lucky Egg for double xp, then evolve a bunch of them. You get like 1-2k xp per evolution. 3. At higher character levels, you will unlock new extremely useful items and different types of Pokeballs, as well as encountering higher CP wild Pokemon. Leveling up your character should be your #1 priority (besides "catching them all" of course, which I think is the whole point of this game). |

I haven't wasted candies evolving without an egg, but I have blown through some stardust to win local gym battles. Thanks for the tips, good to know. |

Eevee transformation guide:
Eevee evolves into one of 3 different Pokemon. It's not completely random; you can increase your chances on getting a specific evolution based on what attacks your Eevee has. Find an Eevee that has the specific attacks equipped below to get a higher chance at the evolution you want: Jolteon: evolves from Eevee with body slam equipped as second move. Vaporeon: evolves from Eevee with switft equipped. Flareon: evolves from Eevee with dig equipped. It's not 100% success rate though. |

Rolled up on a cop at one of the uhh not gyms the other thing. He had a lure out playin pokemon go while runnin radar. Lol. I had a cigar and went to a local park; dropped a lure and sat there in my truck for 30 minutes. Had at least 20 people show up and start mooching off my lure. Funniest part is that it was mostly adults in their 20's and 30's. |

I am 22, my friends all within a year all play the game. This game is catered to our generation. Something that was created by and for millennials and doesn't suck! |

Even as a kid I thought the show sucked though. |

I'm in - never played a Pokemon game before, though I've been peripherally aware of the concept. I just never didn't have console games during the time they were popular, including mobile consoles.
I guess that's the price I paid for having moderately wealthy parents and living in the sticks; none of my friends played it and I had a laptop to play on in the car. On that note... any suggestions on "classic" Pokemon games I should pick up and play for the first time? I don't mind spending a couple hundred bucks on an older console or handheld. |

If you want something newer and want to play something other than pokemon just grab a newer nintendo 3ds off amazon or wherever. Pokemon omega ruby or alpha sapphire are pretty fun. Bought it for the wife to keep her busy while I'm on the computer, seems like a good time sink |

Level 15, and 40 different types of Pokemon caught so far. They really need a better variety of Pokemon in the wild. It's boring catching the same stuff over and over. I just started yesterday, I'm still only lvl 4, and I agree with this. Although I have yet to actually go out and walk around looking, been too busy. Tonight we are going to walk the hike and bike track by our house and I'll actually get to check it out better. Are there different "wild" Pokémon in different areas? We live in the Houston area and are going to Destin, Florida in a couple weeks. Will the wild Pokémon be different there? |

The only thing I have found that I could do without is how the incubator calculates distance. All day driving around and the few times I got on to play it only calculated 1.5k out of the 5k needed. It must have some kind of speed algorithm. Go to fast and it stops counting? May as well make it a damn timer. That and trying to find access pokestops. As with Ingress they are located at somewhat ridiculous places. Although I did access a few on fly-by's. Others are too far off the roadways to bother with, and not in places I would usually/ever find myself.
I did get a nice score on the way home. Turn onto my street and 4 little shits pop up at once. 3 of which were new ones. So far I'm about level 5.5 with 18 collected. Cute game, but I give it a couple weeks before I am tired of trying to do anything I can't have normal access to. As with Ingress, if you work in a densely populated area or hipster hangout central, this is a tough game to enjoy. I have not been in one place close enough to a gym all day. Unless you like parking on the street next to crack heads, but that's just my area. |

A historical park type area with about 15 portals all within about 100-200 yard radius. Then one day we went to downtown Houston and BAM...portals everywhere! I'm sure there are pokestops and wild pokemon all over the damn place there. |

I missed a squirtle today cause the god damn app froze when i captured it. I hate that I missed an Ivysaur (haven't seen one since) this way. I was pretty mad at the game, as were my kids. When it happens to me, the PM usually ends up in the pokedex after I reboot. |

I dont know anything about pokemon, my daughter plays/loves it though and she is 9.
My sister took her to go catch a bunch the other day at the park and they joined team mystic. For kicks I downloaded and caught 3. I couldnt tell you what they were some beetle, a snake and angry eggs or something.
What team do I join so I can fight my daughter and sister and destroy them?

Haven't really played much in the past couple days. Was hoping they would fix some of the freezing/loading bugs and the proximity thing soon. Level 16 45 different Pokemon caught I'm in the same boat pretty much. Level 12, not sure how many I've caught though. I get tired of the freezing up and having to constantly close the app and re-launch. Plus, there just aren't enough pokestops near my regular walking trail to make it worth while. I keep running out of pokeballs. I generally get 3 or 4 balls when I hit the stop but sometimes it takes 4 or 5 in order to catch one. I'm not buying anything with real money and I don't have the time to drive to an area with lots of stops so I can farm them. We'll be going to Destin, Florida next week for vacation so I'm sure there will be plenty of pokestops there. |
