I am tired of seeing snipers hanging back from the team not helping with the rush or capping conquest points. This is my effort to put together a playable forward playing recon class.
there is little doubt that the m40a5, while not as powerful as the m98, is one of the best sniper rifles in the game. However, the problem I have with all sniper scopes persists even with the a5. scope sway. This is on xbox so it is already not as accurate as it could be with a mouse and keyboard but add in the +-10 inch sway (which is pretty exaggerated) and the lack of peripheral line of sight when you are zoomed in, makes sniping a frustrating affair. Lately my recon class is packing a little more punch though as I have figured out a combination that works for me. I ditched the high power scopes in favor of the ACOG believe it or not. with the straight pull bolt, the acog has just enough zoom to take out targets up to 200 meters away and keeps your peripheral sight open for flanking attacks. I run a suppressor on top of it all with squad ammo specialization. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0XL-DpSLTg (not my video) I use tugs and mobile squad beacons on top of it to give my squad/team the local advantage. |
| M40A5 with straight pull and M145 scope. I can't track targets with chevrons (ACOG, russkie scopes), MAV, and 1911 w/ Tactical Light. You will decimate all at close range, and can still catch people across some maps (Damavand Peak, Nose Hair Canals, Metro, Grand Bazaar, Tehran Highway, on CQ). For maps like Kharg Island, Operation Firestorm, and Caspian Border, Mk.11, M39, SVD, and QBU-88 with 8x or 7x and bi-pod, SOFLAM, and again the 1911. You'll get a ton of points for setting the SOFLAM in random places facing the enemy, and the semi-auto rifles make for quick follow up shots without losing sight of the target. |
