Out of respect, I don't shit on someone elses hobby. I had my pc at work one day to blow the dust out of it with the shop air and my boss asked me if I was moonlighting for NASA. I told him I LOVED FPS games. He looked at me and said "Vidya games?? Well, whatever sharpens your saw."  My bills are paid, my kids are grown (early 20's but they're in college and working) and my wife is happy, so if I wanna spend my spare time blasting the heads off 'puter bad guys, that's MY business.

lol everybody has a way to wind down, destress, and have fun... for some, sadly its shitting on others.  I wouldn't worry about them.
Just pour your favorite drink, boozy or not, smile, and just enjoy.

My "gaming rig" is not exactly cutting edge but it's a very solid workstation.

Intel workstation chassis (forget the model number)
Intel S5520SC workstation motherboard
24 GB ECC DDR3 RAM
2x Intel Xeon W5590 3.3 GHz quad core processors
2X 2GB HDs
2X 1 GB HDs
1KW power supply
2X gigabit ethernet ports
Windows 7 Professional

No RGB lighting of any kind.

Added cards:
GTX 950 video card
802.11a wifi card
USB 3.0 card
National Instruments PCI GPIB (IEE 488.2) card

It's a general purpose workhorse.  Not the fastest thing on the block but it's enough to run every game I currently play at its absolute max settings with a framerate above 60 FPS in the worst case scenario.

That's more than sufficient for me.

Did a budget build for my best friend over spring break.

Antec P7 red windowed case
MSI B450M gaming plus mobo
16gb Ripjaw Vs at 2400hz
Ryzen 5 2600
Powercolor Red Devil RX580
2tb hdd, 256gb Samsung 840 ssd
Corsair CX650M
Corsair 120HD RGB fans
Cooler master 240L AIO

He’s a big slayer fan so the theme was to make it look as red and cheesy as possible.... RGB is set to give the fans a flickering appearance like it’s on fire. We’ve been playing a lot of division 2 and it beasts it on ultra at 1080. Pleasantly surprised because it was less than a grand to put together.

EVGA GTX 960 2gb -> XFX RX 570 8gb

Case is very 2010

Sweet decals!

The 9900k was recently on sale for less than it’s ever been priced so I decided I would pull the trigger on it. It runs pretty hot and although it had served me well these last 7 years, my old C70 case wasn’t the best solution to keep a beast of a CPU like the i9 cool. I ended up pulling my GPU and SSDs from my C70 and transplanting it into a new Corsair Obsidian 500D. I'm not a big fan of RGB all the things so I picked a case and components that had some sleekness to them.

Bit late to this, but in answer to the question on how the computer case had moving images on the side window:

An LCD panel was used - LCDs themselves are fairly transparent, and are backlit to provide the image on your computer screen.  Placing just the panel itself in a windowed computer case is possible, and lighting the inside of the case would allow you to see images displayed on the screen.  That screen could be treated as a separate monitor by the operating system, or controlled by custom software.  There are even manufactured computer cases with this.

Will be putting together a new rig for Cyberpunk 2077, Microsoft Flight Sim 2020, and DCS in the spring.

Question for you guys - should I keep the 2070 or upgrade to a 2080 / ti?

I just finished my first real build!  While I still have some work to do on the rig I'm very happy with the results.  Now if I could just figure out why my Odyssey+ keeps black screening after 20-40 mins I'd be stoked.

Case: H510i Black/Red
MOBO ASROCK X570 Extreme4 WiFi
RAM: GskillZ 4X8GB DDR4-2800 (a bargain buy)
CPU Ryzen 7 3700X stock Wraith Cooler
GPU: EVGA RTX 2060 SC 06G-P4-2062-KRSD
SSD Evo 970 1TB
PSU Corsair RM750 Modular

I got to fly the DCS F-14 for about 10 mins last night (before black screen) and the experience is surreal

Case - Fractal Meshify C
PSU - EVGA 600W
CPU - Ryzen 2600 - Easily overclocked to 3.9, may try for more soon.
GPU - MSI 1660 Ti - OC'd, don't remember to what
Motherboard - MSI X570 Elite WiFi (Don't use the WiFi)
RAM - Skill Ripjaws 2x8gb 3200
AIO - Fractal Celsius 36
Other Fans - 2x140mm and 1x 120mm (al exhaust)
M.2 - Sabrent Rocket 512gb and 256gb
SSD - Crucial 500gb
Monitor - Acer 27" 1440
Mouse - Logitech G502
KB - Cheap Red Dragon

Started out semi budget to see if PC gaming was for me.  Plan to add a 1tb SSD, 2tb HDD and possibly upgrade to a 3600 cpu in the near future.  Or a R7 3800 in the not so near future....  A RTX 2060 or better is also in the plan.  First is a modular PSU so I can free up the 3.5" drive bay in the case though.

As this one is upgraded the old parts, CPU, 2600, 256 M.2, etc will be repurposed into a Plex server and/or DVR for security cams.

I first posted in this thread almost 7 years ago when I began this PC build, but I see the photos were lost to Photobucket.  It's still running strong, but definitely getting a little out dated.  When I put it together, Skyrim was the main game I was looking to play.  Really the only newer game I play is COD: MW, which obviously runs on much lower settings.  Looking to start phasing out and replacing parts from this build rather than an entire new build.  I've been really impressed with how problem free it has been.  It's seen a lot of use over the last 7 years, and the only issue I've had is losing the scroll wheel click on the mouse.

Case: Corsair 600T Mid-Tower
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87
RAM: 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws
Graphics: Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB
SSD: 2x 120GB Kingston SSD
PSU: NZXT 700W

Peripherals
Monitor: 2x ASUS VS248 24"
Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K70 Cherry MX Brown
Mouse: Corsair M65
Headset: Corsair Void Pro RGB
Speakers:  Some cheap Logitech from Amazon

Big box.

Water-cooled I5 over Clocked.
16 GB ram
SSD
1060 w/6GB
58" plasms

CPU AND Motherboard are about 7 years old and still run great.
Updated to SSD and the 1060 last year.

Still plays Diablo2 and doom well

Can even play doom 2016 well.

Realized I should at least update the case. The Antec Three Hundred Two was from 2012. So I got a Fractal Design Define C. Love that it gets rid of the 5.25-inch bays (I used the DVD burner only a few times in all the years) and is 2 inches shorter in both height and length. Just really compacts the midsize build and cleans up the cables.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770
Motherboard: MSI Z97A Gaming 6
RAM: Patriot Viper 16GB DDR3-1600
Graphics: MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Super VENTUS XS
SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB NVME
HDD: 2TB Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM008 (replaced a 9 year old 2TB Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000)

Did a min build refresh since a 3080 isn't happening anytime soon. Got a new board to prep for ryzen 3 and a new case because my Phanteks enthoo evolv atx tg (long ass name) had horrible thermals even after case mods and it was gigantic. Got a new case and some new fans to look puuuurdy. Also got a new cooler because I dropped my cryorig R1 and bent a couple fins which isn't a big deal but it sliced the everlasting fuck out of my finger on the way down and got pissed enough I ran to best buy and got an AIO again so that I never have to deal with mounting a huge air cooler again. Irrational, but effective I guess?

Build:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
MOBO: MSI B550 mag tomahawk
Cooler: Corsair h150i Capellix (360mm rad)
PSU: EVGA P2 650w Platinum
RAM: Crucial Ballistix sport lt 3200mhz white 2x16gb (32gb)
Case fans: 5x Pccooler 120mm corona. Bitwit has a review on youtube, can't be beat for the money. RGB but I have them set to white right now, they don't look white in pics but it's my camera I guess, everything matches in person.
Storage: intel 660p 1tb m2, 500gb crucial 2.5" ssd, Samsung 850 EVO 500gb and 250gb. I need to consolidate drives at some point, eventually gonna go to two 2tb m2 drives. Too many wires in the case.
Case: Lian li lancool II mesh
GPU: MSI GTX1080 Gaming X (shroud painted white and removed MSI's cringey logo)
GPU bracket: EZDIY rgb

Glorious model o mouse in matte white, coolermaster masterkeys s white lighting only w/ hyperfx pudding keycaps.

Next up is zen 3, probably a 4700x or 5700x, whatever name they go with I guess. 3080 whenever it happens or big navi if AMD delivers this time.
