My wife really wants to lose alot of weight, and she is very much dedicated to going to the gym everyday. But I go off and do my weight lifting thing for almost an hour or so, and she basically gets on the elliptical for 30 minutes then gets on the bike for 15-20 minutes. Yet she still has a problem with losing weight. We do this almost every day. What is a better way for losing weight? Circuit training? incorporation weight lifting to cardio? I mean she does alot of cardio, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. |

Food diary- know what you are eating, what is in it and how often (this one helps me tremendously.... it is so easy to eat more than you realize) 3. Sit less, move more It is hard to say anything too specific but I hope it gets some ideas going for you all. |

Have her lift weights with you - adding muscle will increase metabolism - and NO she will not get bulky.....
Be sure to use Dumbbells (Work the Chest, Shoulder & Triceps) you can have an awesome work out with a set up Dumbbells. Most importantly, have her do lunges - Several years ago I finally got my wife to buy into this - She is 40 yo and looks as good if not better now then she did 12 years ago when we got married. Lunges - Nothing makes a woman's ass look better |

Get a diary of what and when she is eating. That can be one of the most important things you can do. I dropped 40 pounds in two months with switching my diet and at the time minimal cardio. Cut out crap like sodas and candy(empty calories). Eating 5-6 smaller meals a day helps to get your metabolism going. Always carried something like baby carrots or almonds with me to snack on. Drink plenty of water. Eat slower, I would eat smaller portions and wait 20-30 minutes if still hungry after that eat a little more. Don't realistically expect overnight results. try to set a goal of a couple pounds a week.
Not an expert just sharing what helped with me. |
| You've probably done this but make sure she gets a physical and full lab workup. My wife had all sorts of issues until they discovered she had thyroid problems. I ended up living with the three faces of Eve for five years but once they got it regulated she's back to her great self. |

Squats and deadlifts will burn fat and put on muscle. Compound movements FTW. Also, figure out her BMR (basal metabolic rate) and figure out how many calories she needs daily from that. Eat about 300-500 calories under matienance for best results. Starving your body will only make it more prone to adding fat when a "diet" is over. |

Quoted: Not to be rude, but she needs to eat less. Its a simple formula, eat less calories than you burn and you will lose weight. If she is exercising almost an hr a day at the gym and not losing weight, she must be packing down the food. Yeah, I guess I will have to pay more attention to that. |

I would vote that she be the one to pay attention to what she eats. If she takes ownership of the situation it is much more likely that changes will be made to her eating patterns. Generally, it is not beneficial for your relationship to start being a gatekeeper to what she eats and that may not be what you meant by your comment. The two of you know what is best for your relationship so YMMV. Good luck, weight loss can be a bugger! |
| well eat breakfast every morning to get things going. watch what you eat and exercise. portionize your food, dont eat one big meal at breakfast lunch and dinner. cut out the sweets and stuff with a lot of salt. drink plenty of water to help flush the system and dont eat after 7pm |
