I took the APFT this morning and passed it pretty easily but I want to max it.  I have that handled for push ups and sit ups but right now my 2 mile time is around 14:00 and I want to drop it down to 13:00.

Suggestsions/training programs?  I played football all through high school so I only did sprints.  The only distance running I have done has been over the summer leading up to the APFT.

im currently deployed to Iraq.

If your intent is to max your run time you should consider 60-120's.  Run as fast as u can for 60 seconds then walk for 120 do this for 30-45 minutes every other day and over time switch the two. run 120 seconds and walk for 60 seconds.  When i mean run i mean run your a-s off.  Work on taking longer strides longer stride means less work for the same distance.  When i started out i could hardly run 2 miles in 1630 now i max my time at 1300 with no problem.  Keep up the hard work and you will get there.  Always controll your breathing on a pt test and long runs, obviosly u cant when u do sprints.

P.S. make sure you replace your shoes often to avoid shin splints, they are no joke.

Good luck and god bless

You are going to get a hundred different answers to this, just pick the plan that you have the most faith in and work your plan hard. When I got my run time down to 13:16, many pounds of muscle and fat ago, I was doing one weekly two mile run, and a lot of sprint, burpee, sandbag, DB based conditioning. Going out each run with the previous week's time in my head was a great motivator to push it just a little bit harder. I garauntee you could run faster than 14:00 next week if you go out with the only thought of beating your time.

Now that I know the course I could definitely cut my time a little bit.

Run farther than 2 miles to increase your 2 mile time.  Try 3 or 4.  2 miles will seem like a breeze after that. My .02

Edit* Decrease your 2 mile time

As they said above, interval training is the approved solution for APFT workouts.

Additionally, if you have any extra weight on you, drop it.  Even a few pounds helps make a difference.
