Hello,
Ok I am new to this section of the forum. Been lifting for quite some time, I play college Football and am getting into powerlifting in the off season .I have been training my squat alot and my max is getting pretty high, but my form on heavy weights is strugling. My chest keeps dropping, and I cant keep it straight. I have been trainning my core really hard to keep my back straight but just keep having issues with it. any body have any tricks to help me keep it straight Thanks |

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=113&t=601731 I know it's a huge thread, but AGW will attest to the fact that we constantly rehash squat technique every few pages or so. Hope you join us. FWIW - we train college football players for the NFL combine and have 2 guys in the draft this weekend. |

This is a weakness for me. If my chest caves in at the bottom the bar drifts foward and I get stapled with heavy weights. 2 things seem to help, other than focusing on keeping my chest up. It seems the harder you arch your lower back, the easier it is to keep your chest up, and try and push your head back over the bar. Dont just tilt it back, push your forehead, nose and chin all back an equal amount over the bar.
edit:Its funny how we focus on the details and forget the basics. The above advice applys assuming you are already pinching your shoulder blades tight. |
