I beat them out, they come back. I work thru them again, they come back. I wear Asics Gel-Evolution motion control running shoes. Ive been doing primarily low impact yet very intense elliptical cardio. I can do a 15-16 minute 2 mile on an elliptical. I ratchet up the resistance every 10 minutes I am on it. normally for 35 minutes and I do 2 sets for 70 minutes total.

Since the Fall Semester at MU has started back Ive been trying to do "normal" running. I am alos having to walk the campus all day, my classes are at the opposite ends of campus. I dont do elevators, I always take the stairs. my classes are on the 3rd and 4th floors.

I am heading out in a few minutes to go to have lower leg X-rays done. Dont know if I have stress fractures or what. If it isnt s/f then I really dont know why the shin splints keep coming back.

How sure are we on the shinsplints diagnosis?  Sometimes people get it confused with muscel soreness in the anterior tibialis (the muscle that flexes your foot upward).  Sometimes the solution lies in strengthening that.  Just throwing out possibilities.

Stretch.

For example, stand with your toes/front part of foot under something, like the back of a couch. Pull up with your feet, like you're trying to make your toes touch your shin.

Its been goin on for a year now.

I stretch and do exercises to strengthen those muscles on the front of my lower leg.
