I have a fairly demanding semester approaching: 1 hour drive to work, working for an 8 hour shift, another hour drive, then 5 hours of classes. I've been thinking of ways to increase my energy because I want to get through the day fully alert, instead of just barely making it.

I was drinking 2 or 3 cans a day of of pop/soda/whatever you call it, and I totally quit about 5 days ago. I also increased my water intake drastically. I can't believe the effects I'm seeing already, my energy has increased, I feel a LOT better, and I think I'm sleeping better too.

If anyone who reads this is considering kicking the habit, DO IT!!

Exercise and water is the "magical" cure for a lot of people's problems these days.  So try that exercise, ARF needs more of it.  Can't out walk those shamblers when you have to stop every 3 blocks for a burger or a pizza

Exercise will get you through alot of things.  There are guys at work that could work most people into the ground and smoke packs a day.  Swinging a sledge hammer and carrying joints of iron is good exercise.  I still can't stay awake after consecutive 18 hour days without help though.

I assure you that it wasn't the caffeine, just the source.  Glad you're feeling the benefit.

I stopped drinking coffee and found the same results.  Caffeine is a short-term solution, but long term it does more to hurt your energy levels than help them.

I drink more water than I used to, no change observed. I've gone with and without coffee, and I do better with. Hardly any soda.
