Hey, quick question. This may sound a little stupid, but here it goes. If I do 50 situps 5 days a week, 100 on 2 days, and drink a glass of milk right after I do the situps, within 3 months, are my abs gonna be ripped? Or will I need to step it up, or is this procedure pretty stable?

Thanks.

No your abs arent just going to be "ripped" by doing that, it all comes down to diet mostly.

Im not saying you wont have good abs but over and over ive read that everone has abs its just getting that layer of fat off them so you can see them.

I would say the amount you are doing is fine but you will need to do alot more then just drink milk after.

Im not cutting down your routine at all, just things i have read say its more about the diet. Not saying you dont have to work them out but doing both is what will get you "ripped" abs.

Abs are from low bodyfat.  You cant spot reduce.  Its 95% fat levels and 5% ab muscle development.  If you think you are lean and cant see your abs you are, in fact, fat and not lean at all. You need to diet.

Dieting and cardio will get your abs showing in no time.

Diet, diet, diet. But 50 situps 5 days a week with 2 of those days doing 100 doesn't seem like enough.
I do 6 sets of 60, 7 days a week and still need to diet even harder for my abs to really begin to show.

Try to do other exercises besides sit-ups.  Here are some to get you thinking: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exerprint.php?Real_New=%3C%3D+7&Name=&MainMuscle=Abdominals&Isolation=&Equip=BodyOnly&order=Name

Those are all body-weight exercises.  Mixing it up a little bit will make it interesting.

Well now I realize it's now just working out, and diet helps too. Well body fat is not a problem, because I'm a pretty lean guy.

I've come up with something like this, 125 situps - 7 days a week, and running a mile maybe 4-5 days a week. That may do good for me, combined, cause I'm a pretty good eater. I do have a high metabolism too, if that affects anything. So I don't want a 6 pack coming in out of being really skinny too from doing all of this...

Let me try to say this another way.  Probably you will see my after pics in the next day from the get in shape contest.  I have abs (well I think so anyway) I  did abs AT MOST once a week.  The last 3 weeks I did abs twice a week.  There were a couple weeks I did no abs at all.  You dont need to do much work on abs to have a six pack.  You need to be lean... if you cant see abs YOU ARE NOT LEAN.  There is no such thing as "I am lean and dont have abs" or "I dont want to diet cause it will make me skinny but I want abs that I dont have."  You can be skinny and not have abs but that is because you are too fat... your body fat % is too high.  You can be underweight and too fat at the same time.  You can look skinny and have too many mm of fat cells on your abs.  The only way to get rid of the fat is get lean.

Lean = abs. If you dont have abs you are NOT lean.  It is impossible to be lean and not have abs and it is impossible to not be lean and HAVE abs.

I suggest lifting weights if you want to not end up skinny with abs.  Diet does not "help" in getting abs... it is 90% of getting abs.

Please realise that most people that think they are lean actually have at least 10 pounds of fat to lose.

People do Curls to make the Biceps bigger, Bench press to make thier chest bigger. Not one Situp and my abs are big enough.
