I couldn't decide between this or the Carry section so I went with this one.... For those of you who run or ride and choose to carry, what is your preferred method and what do you carry ie: large frame auto/small revolver etc? FYI-I ride a road bike. TIA- ~m |

i just ordered a Camelbak Goblin for this reason. I'm planning on running and road/mtn biking with it. It's made to look like civilian gear, and it does but its designed for undercover work. They have a backpack too, the gobin is like a runners waistpackand has hydration too. I'm gonna put an EMT patch on it as further disguise. But it's quick access to my G23 and a spare mag and anyhing else I may need. If it's like the rest of Camelbak's products it will be well thought out and designed. I'm a real Camelbak junkie. I'll post a report when I get it. I ordered from LA Police gear but they are out of stock at the moment. I shoud have it in a week or so. ETA: While the Keltec's and the like are better than nothing; I consider them marginal at best. We'll see how this pack works out. |

I don't wear enough clothes to conceal anything when I run... usually it's shorts, socks, shoes (and a formfitting shirt when it's cold, occasionally a tech shirt when it's hot) with no keys and no wallet (a safe and supervised place to leave them). Most of my runs that cross semi-risky areas are in large groups and during daylight. Some greenbelt runs before daylight are also slightly at-risk, but there is always a lot of traffic. Not that it could ever be 100% effective (armed or not), but my goal in running is simply to make myself as unattractive a target as possible (high traffic, no visible cash/keys/jewelry). Besides, after some of my long runs, I could get mugged by a 6-year old with a popsicle stick and not put up much of a fight. I also run a 10K that is right through the heart of the barrio, but there are cops on every corner... it's safe as sleeping late. |
| Back in the day when I would do a lot of running I carried my G26. I have a water bottle holder that goes around your waist. I took it to a now famous tactical gear maker when they had a small company near where I live. I told him what I wanted to do and they sewed a small nylon holster behind the water bottle part. With the water bottle in place I adjust my t-shirt so that it lays over the guns grip. If I get a chance when I get home I'll put up a picture. |
