Any of yall ever try those 100 calorie snacks?? ex. Planters Peanut-Butter Cookie Crisps Chips Ahoy Thin Cookies Cheese Nips. All of these are low in Fat, Sodium, and of course 100 calories. They also have basically the same thing at my 24 hour gym. The name brand is APEX. Same type of product (100 calorie) snacks but 2x the price. What do yall think of this as a quick fix for between meal hunger pains? |
| I think you'd be better served by a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts or something. The magic 100 calorie mark is mostly an advertising gimick, achieved by reducing the serving size. The stuff is still hopelessly processed, and mostly devoid of any other redeeming nutritional value. |
|
May not have much redeeming value, but they do fill certain craving. Especially, for those of us trying to ditch our doughnut eating ways. Personally, I have used wheat thins, cheez-its, and my favorite South Beach Diet cookies. Spread those out, to once a day, eating five times a day at ~200 calories per meal, and you'll lose weight. Well, at least I have. |
|
Why would you? They're nothing but empty calories, and the simple sugars they contain will go right through you making you feel hungry again in no time flat. I can understand having a few every once and a while to satisfy a craving, but I wouldn't make them a regular part of my diet. Try more nutritionally dense foods instead. Some of my favorites are: Fruits and vegetables (obviously) Flavored nonfat yogurt 1% Cottage cheese w/ pineapples. Tuna fish and crackers snack packs... Healthy Choice soups. Oatmeal w/ raisins, apples and cinnamon. The possibilities are endless. |

I don't know how many calories, but I found this recipe that looks interesting. 8 Scoops Whey (any flavor you prefer) 3 Cups Oats 1 Package Sugar Free Fat Free Pudding 2 Cups Skim Milk Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and spread in the bottom of a pan. Place in the fridge overnight and cut into 8 individual squares the next morning. |
Are you trying to gain weight or lose weight? If you are trying to gain weight just eat more. If you are trying to lose weight just suck it up. Its a diet, its supposed to be hard. ![]() If you eat one of those "snacks" a day for a month you will have gained around a pound of fat.
|
How many of those carbs are from simple sugars though? At the right time of day, it could be great, but for the most part I will stay away from any thing offered by a fast food joint. |
True.. I would not consider that to be nutritionally dense, but its a heck of a lot better than the 100 calorie snacks the original poster was asking about....I would, however, definitely consider this as a healthy alternative if one needs to satisfy their 'sweet tooth' cravings. |
That depends. If he is substituting a 200 calorie snack for a 100 calorie snack he is losing a pound of fat a month, not gaining it. True, he could lose even more weight, but it's better than eating total crap. |
Oh, for sure. It really beats a 44oz slurpie or some thing like that. |
