2026 1,000 mile running challenge (Page 34 of 34)
|
8.5 / 2,433 Three sets of 800, 600m, 400m on the track, all at about 5k effort. Walking recoveries. It was certainly good to get back on the track and do some hard work after having gotten and recovered from a couple small bugs over the last month (ok, probably about 3 weeks starting a month ago). A bit slower than I wanted, but still good. Wednesday looks to be the coolest morning in the forecast so I'm going to do a 5000m time trial on the track that morning before I lose all my heat adaptations. |

I'm pretty sure if we entered a common race, you'd be back at your car changing clothes by the time I wheezed across the finish line. As a side note, this summer is the 9th warmest on record for the last 130 years. September is on pace for the warmest ever. No wonder I was struggling on Saturday when the high hit 99F. |

5 / 2,441 Super easy recovery. 5,000m time trial on the track tomorrow morning. I feel absolutely unprepared for this. But at least it'll be a hard effort and I can try out a new pair of super shoes (Asics Metaspeed Toyko). |

The way I see it, if they will help me out at 7:05 / mile, i bet youll get alot more out of them at whatever crazy fast pace youll be running. |

I had good luck testing them at that same 10k distance, so even though Im just trying to get sub 45, i feel that they would do well at every pace (as long as you have the leg strength and form). I really loved them for races up to maybe a half marathon (I did run a really bad marathon in them, but I was sick on the start line and just didn't know it yet so I can't blame the shoes, I just learned that I wanted something different for a longer race). So advancements in foam and plate geometry over the last 5 years will at least be interesting to see/feel. |
