Marathon was trash. Same nutrition, hydration, and racing plan as what I used 6 months ago. Feel like energy ran out at mile 10 and by mile 22 I had been out long enough that cramps set in. Finished in 3:52. Wondering if it’s just the Waikiki weather that wreaks such havoc on my running because now twice the same exact problems have arisen during this race. Oh well. Still finished and got another medal. 26.42 // 3422 for the year. |
In the Marines I got PT Thrashed on Christmas by our Drill Instructor because he blamed the death of Christ on recruits.

Maybe try something cooler and drier? CIM and the Phoenix Marathon are usually around the same time of the year, but have much nicer weather (plus are net downhill!) |

It’s just so strange that I have such different results between the marathon in Anchorage and the one here in Honolulu. I think moving forward I’ll run this one purely for fun and shoot for 3:30 and see if starting out at a 8:00 pace makes a difference later in the race. |

Now that I’ve been at it for a few months now I’m noticing a pattern with a few things. 1: If it’s high humidity I seem to get fluid in my right ear that last for an hour or so. 2: If I do sprints or multiple consecutive days of 4-6 miles my hip flexors hurt when I sneeze but the pain goes away after a day or two of rest. The ear issue is what it is. But what exercises can I do to help with the hip flexor thing? The only other exercises I’m doing is 50 pull ups 3 days a week. And I don’t stretch before running mostly because I don’t know what exactly to stretch. Just looking to make improvements on my running game and prevent lasting injuries |

Not knocking any PT’s out there. But it seems a majority of the normal running injuries are led to be treated by strengthening glutes and hip mobility. I’ve been to a PT for 2 separate “injuries” in the last couple years and I feel as though Google and YouTube would have led me to the same exercises. |

I did the table figure four stretch this morning and kettle bell squats with my pull ups for lunch. I’ll probably take tomorrow morning off and focus on stretching, squats, and lunges. Going to be hard to not drive to the track at 4am though lol. |

Decided to ramp up this weekend with 10 miles yesterday and 13 miles today. Got started later in the morning so had 80 degrees and all the humidity. |

Location checks out. Last year I was in New Orleans several times for work and running there always sucked. 11.1 / 3,430 10k alternating every 1k between ~marathon effort and the fast end of easy effort. |
