I worked out really hard this last week and I am more sore than I have ever been in my life. I literally feel like I am going to throw up and I when I move wrong I am damn near on the verge of tears (which is totally unlike me, usually I could hit my thumb with a hammer and barely wince). I would think that I tore something but the pain is everywhere.

This sucks.

How many days has it been?  Maybe a doctor visit is in order?

Since Tuesday, so 3 days. If it doesn't clear up soon I will go but I am usually sore for a while - it is just the level of intensity is through the roof.

I just started Krav Maga and thought I was in "decent" condition.  HA!  After the first session (90 min), I was more sore than I've been in a LOOONG time.  Shows me the couple push-ups/sit-ups/basic running/jogging ain't cutting it!  'Course it is also because the last time I worked out/training seriously, I was 10 years younger!  Gotta figure if its soreness that is lessened by motrin or the like, it is prob simple muscle joint fatigue.  Ease up on your training and hammer the motrin until your up to the level of your training.

That said, ask yourself, "does this feel like fatigued muscles/joints?  Or does it feel like something else...something more serious?"  I'm a frm believer in listening to your self.  You know yourself better than any doctor can.

Hope it gets better.  My "pain/fatigue" did!

If it is so bad that you might throw up by moving I would say that a visit to the doctors office is defintly in order.

When you take ibuprofen, you might want to be sure you are taking a therapeutic dose.  800mg every 4-6hours is prescription strength.  You don't want to take those kinds of doses for more than about 3 days because of GI issues.  Addtionally, is your pain a general aching, or does it radiate?  Are you numb or are you feeling tingling in your arms or legs.  These symptoms indicate a more serious problem.  Hopefully, you're already feeling better, but if not, be sure to take care of yourself.

Rickyj,

Go get some Gatorade and dilute it 50:50 with water.  Drink a pint of this.  When done, drink water until you pee.  Drink more water until you pee again.

Get a massage for the especially sore spots (even self-massage).

Ibuprofen helps a LOT but you made need to rehydrate and get the massage as much as anything.

What hurts, your legs, back, arms,?

Mainly in my arms and legs, although a little bit in my chest and back. Still sore, not as intense but it is still there which is scaring me. I stopped working out and my school finals are over now so there is a lot less stress in my life, but it is such a literal living hell right now that I really couldn't take any *bad* news from the doctor. Nevertheless it has been a lot longer than I thought, two weeks. Guess I oughta go get checked up.

That sounds like a very good idea. I hope you are alright. Let us know how it goes.

You may also want to try a muscle relaxant.

If you are having spasms, they are not getting the rest they nned to regenerate and are often pulling against each other.  You may not even be feeling it.
