His shorts provided too much Freedom, snapped the bar clean in twixt. Anybody think that this is a product of poor bar quality, and not necessarily the weight? The bar wasn't really flexing all that much. My guess is shitty bar. Any decent bar should be able to handle that weight. |

I swear these are the same two guys that bent the shit out of another bar, dude unracked and started some oscillation and kept bouncing until that bar was a U. That's exactly what I said when KaiK posted this in the big wendler thread. I think they are doing this on purpose. Such fun. |

So has anyone here had a guy in a pink shirt spot them on squats before in such a fashion? Not that there is anything wrong with that. I've never had anyone spot me in that fashion. He seriously, looks like he's wants the squatter to do pole squats instead of box squats. He's not even really in a position to help the lifter, despite the fact that I doubt his 135lb frame is going to pick him up. It would be unnerving to have someone that close while squatting. |

#barbellnightmares www.ivankobarbell.com/press/how_to_break_an_olympic_bar.pdf MPI testing, it isn't only for AR bolts...... Wow, Russian lifter gets killed by a broken bar cutting his throat. What a disaster. |

Dude is small but spotting like that is common. It lends a good assist if you tend to collapse forward. Towel isn't for padding. It's usually for grip. Stupid, but can work if you don't chalk up before getting sweaty. Yeah, remember the spotter isn't going to take all 600#....he only needs to cover enough so the lifter can stand up...maybe as little as 10# if the lifter stalls or starts to tip forward. In the case of a complete failure, I'm just going to dump the bar anyway. I have someone spot me like this on max attempts, though not quite that close to me. |

At our gym we have two sets of bars. One set is for the racks, the other- much nicer Rogue bars- can be used for anything except putting them on the racks.
I was told that if you put these Rogue bars on the racks, then it violates their lifetime warranty? Is this true for other bars as well? |

They've had the shit beaten out of them, and I've only seen one that got fubar'd. Some idiot was using a bench as a rack, with a loaded bar. It fent. |

That's a different spotter me thinks. Crazy stupid video too. What's the point in bending a bar like that? No form, no gains, crazy amount of weight, lots of risk and stupid.

No brokeback mountain moments necessary either. |

Do you know what the difference between the $1100 bar and the $800 bar is? They look identical to me. Between the competition and training bars, isn't it just knurling aggressiveness RoG? No, I called the importer and asked the same question. The knurling difference is a rumor, and not true. The only difference is that they don't certify the training bars for competition- I have the $800 bar. |
