Ive never lifted with headphones/my own music. The music at my gym sucks and I kinda want to get something to listen to thats not katie perry.

Whats the cheapest way to go?

Id be ok with a walkmen. Thats the last type of music thing Ive used. Can I get a new one?

1- yes
2- wires suck the sweat off a donkey's balls.  But good ones are ok, it just sucks when you snag a wire and rip the bastard our of your head.

Kenny G is far too modern for an old guy like me.  Pete fountain is all a guy should ever need for lifting.

Lifting with wires isn't too bad. But occasionally you will get them caught and yank the buds out.

IPOD Shuffle is cheap and can hold plenty of music for a workout.

I've been looking for a cheap MP3 player, but all of them seem to get shit reviews. Mine is crapping out; though to be fair, I did drop a weight plate on it.

This. Im not a huge fan of wired earbuds, but I use the iPod Shuffle when I need music.

You can actually get bluetooth earbuds so there is no wire to the phone, but they are all over $100.

I do okay at work with wires by running it down the back of my shirt and keeping my phone in my pocket.

Wireless headphones are great for working out but be aware there is audio quality lost when using Bluetooth.
For the people who recommended an iPod shuffle, there is no Bluetooth on those.

One time in highschool some friends and I were going out to see a movie.  Due to dinner running long, we were late for the start of the movie.  We decided to head back to my house to hang out.

As I'm unlocking the door, my dad unlocks it and opens the door.  He's standing there in silk drawers and holding his wallet.  He hands me a $50 and says, "I  don't care what you do.  Go somewhere else."  This was like 1996 when $50 was a lot of money.

The strangest thing about that memory is that my mom's Kenny G CD was blaring.  It's an image I'll never get out of my head.  My old man standing there in silk boxers, holding his wallet and Kenny G's silky saxophone playing in the background.

Anytime a Kenny G song comes on the radio, I turn it immediately.

Pandora worked great. Thanks

Does pausing it stop it using data? Or is there another way to turn it off.

I usually just pause mine and close the app.

Seems to stop eating data at that point.

I use an iPod nano in an armband case, with excess wire tucked into the arm band.

Very light, wires stay out of the way.

My friend is still on his original plan from 2002 or 2003. He refuses to modify it or switch carriers because it's the original unlimited plan.

He abuses the hell out of it too. He will turn his phone in a hot spot so everyone else can use it if they need to.

I'm the same. I have 9 phones on my account, but every time I make an adjustment, I verify that the unlimited isn't being touched. My unlimited plan on my phone is from 2006. Sometimes I put on Epic Sax Guy 10 hours on YouTube and just leave the room for the night.

Do you have an IPhone?  Pandora is ok but Apple music is the new rage.  Yes is a subscription service at $10 per month (you get a free 90 day trial up front as well) but you have access to pretty much all music ever recorded.  Its amazing.  Check it out if you have Iphone and have several different tastes in music!

My wife and I stayed at my parents' cabin years ago.  My parents weren't there, but they had one of those Bose players downstairs with the buttons on top.  My mom had Ace of Base in the cd player apparently.  At about 3 in the morning, my tom cat Maximus (RIP) decided to jump up on it and start stomping on the buttons.  So Ace of Base turns on, middle of the night downstairs.  I guess he was standing on the volume up button because he cranked it.  I was like WTF is happening.  "I saw the sign . . ."  loud as fuck, just randomly.  Cat was just looking at me when I stumbled downstairs.

I sure wish I'd been able to give the kids $50 last week.... Three teenagers but no drivers yet.

To me what makes the Apple music service worth $10 a month is time.  Don't have to worry about finding tracks, burning them to devices, downloading music from the web, creating playlists, etc.  Its all at your fingertips 24/7.  Big win for me.

I just have a free Pandora account, I've got several stations that I rotate through, for some reason all of them think I like that damn limp-wristed pantywaist Kenny Chesney, I bet I've had to thumbs down every single song he's ever recorded.  Even on my classic rock station.

But other than that Pandora does fine for me.

I typically don't care for streaming music, but I have to admit the apple radio is pretty solid. Has some very obscure stuff on it.

Really though I have about 390GB of music and a Sony ZX-100 so I usually use that
