| Has anyone done a event ? I am planning on doing one later this year and am curious what items worked and didn't work for you. Also if you did anything special other than rucking to prepare. |

Friends and I do a weekly ruck of 8 miles. I haven't done a challenge but they both have. Both worked up to 12m before the challenge.
One of em did a heavy using 8 mile training rucks to prepare but he added more weight. I like the daily spartan race workouts that get emailed. |

I've done two of them. One in Feb '13 and one this past January.
Mark Webb Mark Webb has a blog devoted to training for Goruck Challenge's. He's done over 25 of them as well as Goruck Selection. Read his page for training and gear tips. But I'll add, if you're not rucking regularly you should start. Put on a pack (anything will probably do) with 6 bricks and a 3L bladder full of water and some snacks and gloves and do 2 miles in 30 minutes. Then just add a mile each week until you can do 8 to 12 miles at that same pace of 15/min mile or better. |
