Hello,

Since no one else responded...

I do not have any experience with them.  However, my understanding of them is that they are similar to do "olympic lifting" (i.e., cleans, jerks, etc.) to promote explosive power.  The body naturally tries to move explosively and training for it may help athletic performance.

However, it could also cause injury when done with poor form.

I think the author of these combines ballistic (or explosive) lifting with a set/rep/weight/rest routine to maximize the anerobic cardiovascular benefits as well as the power benefits (meaning it will take you right up to your max heart rate).

My advice would be to go to dragondoor.com and get on the author's mailing list or somehow find out where he does seminars on this type of lifting and take a seminar (or find a list of "kettlebell" gyms that should also be on his site).  I wouldn't do this without instruction (VHS tape is probably not enough).

I would also start with regular dumbells instead of kettlebells to lower the cost of your "experiement."

I am also interested in the techniques of kettlebell lifting.  My current employment/financial situation has prevented me from investigating further.

HTH,
James
