After looking at the 'pre-workout' thread I got to thinking of supplements..
I myself don't use...never really have. The only thing i'll do is from time to time grab a protein bar or muscle milk at the 7-11.. Now a friend of mine, and obviously a good amount of you guys seem really into them.. So I ask the question, do you feel that the use of supplements is cheating to an extent? |

Do you consider running a mile cheating because it's not 3 miles? The idea that supplementing is cheating is ludicrous. Let's define it first: Noun
Supplements just enhance your normal diet. That's it. Now, if you're taking juice and you're competing and it's against the rule, THEN you're cheating. ETA- for the record I take BCAAs, protein, creatine, and caffeine. |

My .02...
My gym time takes me away from my wife and newborn daughter, so I will make every effort to maximize results from my time away from them. A big part of that is my overall nutrition plan. A nutrition plan assisted by natural supplements; creatine, glutamine, protein, pre workouts sometimes, and BCAAs. You can't out exercise bad nutrition, I don't care what people tell you. Not supplementing while lifting is like trying to run a top fuel dragster on pump gas. You won't see the full potential of your hard work, not as fast at least. |

So I ask the question, do you feel that the use of supplements is cheating to an extent? Supplements are a scam. They are a multi BILLION dollar industry, and there is not a single study that proves any of them work. Studies have shown that protein and creatine work. Everything else is junk. Most pre workout supps are heavily loaded with caffeine. Want a pick me up? Drink coffee. The only "supplements" that really work are illegal. They are steroids. |
