So in another thread I posted that I was leaving Gold's Gym. For today's workout, which will be one of my last at Gold's, I decided to see what my 1RM is.
Squats: 455lbs Bench: 240lbs I feel like I could have done more but I didn't have a spotter. Another reason why I am leaving Gold's. Deadlift: 410lbs I think I have come a long ways in the short time since I started working out again. I am even thinking about trying to train for a powerlifting event. I know still have a long ways to go, but damn, I am having some fun working out. On a side note, I ordered a pair of Rogue Do-Wins yesterday. Can't wait til they come in to try them out. |

Don't worry about how far you have to go- just dew it. I might have your numbers beat, but not by a ton, going into my first meet in two weeks. Your numbers don't matter as much as the experience does. Pick out a meet 3-6 months off, buckle down, and get it done. |

Why don't you have a spotter? Everyone I ever asked has willingly spotted for me. Was the only one in the free weight area. From day to day at Gold's, there MIGHT be 2 other people in there. When there have been other folks in there, I never had a problem getting a spot. 90% of this gym is machines. The small area they have in the back for free weights is rarely used. |

Been doing a ton of reading on Elitefts.com and one of the articles pretty much said the same thing and got me motivated to give it a whirl. |

Damn that is a HUGE squat for the rest of those numbers.. Good Job.. My bench has always been weak. I have started working on form and it is getting easier. Deadlifts I was doing wrong. I was doing 3 sets of 5 on the days where the workout called for deadlifts. I have since changed to 1 set of 5 and it is working much better for me. I still think i left some out there on deadlifts. Even with chalk, my grip was failing some. I will get more. I am extremely motivated now and I am just freaking loving it. |

Quoted: I haven't yet. The one closest to me is April 20 but it is gonna be 125 bucks to register for it. And I have to use a singlet. Gonna start another thread. Fuck yeah, I want to get a singlet just for shits and giggles...plus if you're wearing a singlet, you HAVE TO fucking LIFT otherwise you're just a weak dude in spandex... |

I've grabbed people off those other machines before. Sometimes had to help a few women on how to spot. They always seem to be worried but once they realize it's really about guiding and no lifting on their part, it goes easy. |
