First, I'm new to all this.
A family friend is a personal trainer, and she got me started on a simple bodyweight/kettlebell circuit workout that I can do in my room while I'm at school. It's kicking my ass, it feels great, and I can tell I'm getting stronger. The problem I'm running into is that if I really bust my ass, I get nauseous to the point that I either finish and throw up, or have to stop the workout because the nausea gets so bad. I ran a 5K last weekend after eating fried everything the night before at the state fair and didn't feel like this at all. What gives? I like working out, and I feel great other than this, but vomiting every other day is not going to work for me. Any suggestions? |

Two or three hours maybe? I ate breakfast around 9:30 this morning (bowl of Life and two cups of coffee) and worked out around 12. No idea if its related but a bowl of cereal is pretty much the worst way to start the day and prep for a workout. tomorrow eat some eggs in the morning and workout at noon and see if its any better. Additionally our may just take you a while to get used to physically exerting yourself, it may just pass in time. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I have found that I need to eat something no more than an hour before I work out. If it is longer, I occastionally feel nauseous or have less energy. Another possibility is that you're trying to do too much too quickly. Take it easy and gauge your abilities before hitting it too hard.
What you eat is also important. Take Roland's advice and eat some protein and you'll notice a difference. |

Thanks guys, I'll give that a try. I was under the impression that it's not great to eat before working out (blame that on a crappy high school lacrosse coach). Depends on the person. I need 2/3 hours...some need less, some need me. You should almost always have some protein and fat before your workout. How much before depends on you. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

If the diet doesn't fix it, then move the time. |

I used to drink a lot of water before and during my workout. Once I cut that out, I stopped getting so nauseous. I still do a bit on deadlift day, but it isn't so bad. This might actually be at least part of the reason, I drink a lot of water while I'm working out. |

Seriously, have no idea why but I read his time as 11. And of course you quoted him so I had a chance to read it again. I must be getting old. |

I cannot eat hours before or a workout or after. Which kinda presents a problem if I want to gain mass because it is kinda hard to get protein infusion out of air and water. I really have no answers as I'm trying to dial in my diet with my exercise. I can run and I like being thin but I need to put some muscle on to be a healthy fit. |

Now i don't throw up anymore. |

You on any presups?.....they cause it with me if I take to much. Presups = supplements? If so, negative. I'm not taking any. I'm gonna get strong Paul Bunyan style. Only minus the flannel and huge blue cow. Why would you want to ditch the flannel? Plaid flannels are about the manliest shirt in existence. I used to experience the same nausea when I started crossfit and I linked it to my body not being ready in the morning. I would get up at 6, hit the gym at 6:30, and have to quit by 7 because I just needed to puke my guts out. I didn't even want to eat my bacon and eggs afterwards because I felt like shit. I started eating some yogurt before the gym and that actually made it worse, so I switched to a small bowl of rasin bran. This did wonders for me. My body wasn't running on empty when I beat the snot out of it. 6:00 wake up 6:10 rasin bran 6:30 gym 7:45 green yogurt 8:15 bacon and eggs Everything is spaced so because I throw in a post lift shower and have to get to and from the gym. The idea here is screw with your diet until things work out. |

My girlfriend stole my only flannel shirt, and she sends me NSFW pics in it, so I don't ask for it back.
(and before y'all ask, no. No way. )
