Anyone heard of it? I've had it for breakfast the last couple of days and I have had a ton of energy. It sounds kinda gross but it works. You start with good coffee and blend in 2 tbsp of unsalted grass fed butter and 2 tbsp of coconut oil or some mct oil, it comes out all creamy and foamy. ![]() |

Quoted: I'm a coffee snob/purist and that sound F***ing GROSS! Yeah, it sounds DISGUSTING. But... it's not. It's fucking AMAZING. It's so good it's hard to describe, but it is absolutely worth a try. We do it sometimes with regular (but higher end) coffee and unsalted butter. It's delicious.

Quoted: It sounds really tasty, but don't belive the hype and big claims. The real reason Asprey feels great and can function for 20hrs a day is because he's popping prescription speed everyday. Yeah, he makes some pretty outrageous claims. All I know is it's tasty as hell. |

Or MCT / Coconut oil. All I have is olive oil.... would Crisco work? Or just salty butter I guess. Fuck it can't be worse than the Toast / Peanut Butter / Tuna Fish sammiches I love.

If you don't have any, just leave it out. I highly recommend UNsalted butter. Crisco is full of hydrogenated oils, the whole point of "bulletproof coffee" is to have healthy fats in it.

He kind of pissed me off was listening to a podcast the other night with him as a guest he was going on about the coffee and dangerous fungus that has infected our food supply and his grounding mat kind of had me going until I found out later that he takes provigil daily something he failed to mention while extolling the virtues of his diet/lifestyle. |

but what the hell, my butter isn't super-salty. I doubt I'll notice it in the coffee. not right now tho cos it's 4pm and I need to sleep sometime... |

The French? used to do that with tea while fighting in the trenches. Tea with lots of butter and honey? or something. Butter in tea or coffee is great, so is heavy cream, lots of honey. Warms you and gives some fuel.
Chai rooibos tea w/ honey and butter, vanilla hazelnut or coffee with heavy cream and honey. |

Lots of cultures dink their coffee with butter and salt, so the flavor profile isn't that wacky (unless you are a Starbucks American).
My in-laws swear by their coffee this way. I swear by my sweet potato hash browns, eggs, as blak coffee in the morning. Whatever floats your boat, but its not as nasty as some may think. |

RoG, is this enough calories that it would trash an intermittent fast? |

Yes, I believe so. Although IF is more about insulin sensitivity, but butter would still technically break the fast. |

Quoted: What is so awesome about the coconut oil? John Kiefer reccomends coffee and coconut oil in the mornings also, he is the carb backloading guy. IIRC there is MCTs in it, and supposedly MCTs help burn fat...I don't know much about that, but I do know it tastes great and has a high burning point so it's great for cooking. Ah, here if you google MCT studies there's a few interesting things: |
