Do milk and body building mix? I've  read both good and bad. What are your thoughts?

Based on my experience, yes.

What milk is best? Skim, 1%, 2% or Whole?

Old school lifters and body builders were known to base their training around heavy squats and a gallon of whole milk a day.

I have found in my old age that skim milk is more in line with my overall health goals.  I get most of my fats from nuts, fish oil and flax seed oil these days.

I drink between a third and a half gallon of skim milk a day.

I am not a body builder and I also don't drink milk as I prefer to eat my calories instead of drink them.

Milk has evolved/was designed to be natures ultimate growth source...... if that's your goal and you have trouble eating enough drink up, if not stick to water.

Summer before freashman year football coach put me on a weight gaining diet along with lots of lifting. Part of the diet was 1 gallon of milk a day. Rarely could I do the whole gallon but came close most days. Prob drink less than a gallon A YEAR since my early 20's

Milk and weight gain mix. Are you trying to gain weight? Then drink milk (assuming it doesn't give you digestive issues). Real milk, not that skim/non-fat/1%/ hippy bullshit.

It's helped/helping me gain weight but drinking whole milk isn't good for six pack abs.   It'll pack some fat on ya for sure.

That "hippy bullshit" works better for some folks.   I guess that it depends on your goals and lifestyle.

I drink 1% hippy bullshit when I'm on carbs.

Low fat is a scam...unless your carb back loading and need low fat post workout (I'll give you that one Hank) low fat is useless IMO.

I have determined that I need to concentrate my carb sources- more carbs, less volume. Will probably stick with milk, some breads in moderation, sugar added to protein shakes, etc.

I use almond milk myself. No sugar with the unsweetened stuff and tastes a lot better than dairy milk IMHO. Only real downside is the price.

Gallon Of Almond Milk A Day?

I don't think so.

16-32 ounces a day for protien drinks is what I use. I don't see the point in drinking a gallon of milk a day.  Just stick to six meals a day. Chicken, fish, eggs, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, etc.

For people that can handle it and are hard gainers or just looking to put on a LOT of weight there's a place for a gallon a day. It doesn't fit it with YOUR goals (or mine) but if I was 150# and couldn't gain weight you better believe I'd be drinking that much milk.

I am not a body builder. I do not care what I look like, been married too long to care. I weight lift for health benefits like injury prevention and to make myself harder to kill.  I drink chocolate milk as a post workout drink and lots of whole milk. It works for me. It may or may not work for a bodybuilder.
