RoG man, that's impressive stuff and pretty awesome that you are ranked so high!
But holy shit dude, all I could see during those power lifts was my shoulder being RIPPED from my body But that is seriously impressive. Better luck next year. I'd love to do that but like I said... Is you wife on your team or is it split up, men and women? |

Is you wife on your team or is it split up, men and women? Thanks man...that's actually an Oly lift, not a power lift and surprisingly enough it's not that terribly tough on the shoulders. That's a good 35#-40# over my body weight, and it didn't tweak my shoulders even a little...in fact we do those lifts 4-5 times a week and my shoulders are better than ever |

Quoted: Dude. congrats on rocking it, and I know you guys have to be pissed. But on a positive note... I need one of those shirts. Thanks man. Deep down I know we did good, but it sure as shit doesn't help much. ![]() I can get you a shirt if you want, they're American Apparel and $25...they are bad ass aren't they? Shoot me an IM if you really want one.

Well, I don't want to belabor this too much, because to be honest I'm still a little...pissed isn't the right word, but I'm sure you guys can identify. My team has been working our asses off for the last year and we ended up tying for 3rd place. The other team finished higher on a couple events so they took the spot to the Games. We were neck and neck, and in fact going into the last event we were one point ahead due to a couple major snatch PR's by me and another guy That is a tough pill to swallow. Good work SoCal is tough tied for 3rd is impressive. |
Just watched the vid....great lifts, looks like y'all had a blast!![]()
Competition can be a PITA. Its a great motivator but IMHO also takes some of the fun out of it. I gave up competitive shooting because I became more concerned about winning than I did the shooting. Now its just informal shoots with some friends/fellow arfcom members and I am having a great time at it. I am not in any way trying to talk you out of the meets, just sharing a little story |

I suspect that we'll all agree to give it another shot next year, but at some point I think we'll give up the competition and just workout for fun again...I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet though; I can taste it now and I want it bad. |

I say take a break, eat some good food, re evaluate why you're competing and if your goals are realistic. At 9th in the world that is amazing (!) what are the 1st place guys doing? Can you achieve that level? Do you just want to win SoCal? What do you want to achieve before you stop competing? I raced bikes (road bicycles) and it was great but became too time consuming and I realized that sure, I'd make Cat 1 eventually but was it worth it? I stopped and went back to lifting and just lifted for fun and muscle. Now I just PT, no competition for doing pullups... I do shoot competitively and I do win (my division) and it's just a good time. I think competition has it's merits is can be a great motivator. The problem becomes when the competition takes over all other aspects that got you involved to start with. As long as you can have fun while doing it and stay realistic with goals and take the ups and downs in stride then I say stick with it. If it becomes a win at all cost and if we lose then this fucking sucks because WE HAVE TO WIN ALL THE TIME, then you might want to step away from that scene for a while. My 2 cents 3rd is nothing to scoff at either |

Hell, don't let them stop now. You guys obviously know what it takes to get there and get it done, it'd be a shame to not give it another go. Congrats. |

My 2 cents 3rd is nothing to scoff at either This is good advice, and I do appreciate it. I just got back from our meeting and we're pretty much all on the same page: We're going to start training next week...our goals are to all qualify as individuals (top 60 in the region during the Open) and then go to regionals, and on to the games. Competition is still fun at this point, and I'm not ready to give it up. It's been a huge part of my life for the last year and to be honest I don't think I've EVER been happier than I have been over that time...I mean, we all sweat together, eat together and hang out all the time, and part of the reason is that we all have the same goals...I want that to continue for now. We'll see if I want to keep competing after we go to the games next year |

Quoted: Quoted: You should have taken first just because of the blue shirts with the crimson ghost!!! The back says "We Are 760" too (name of the gym, and a cool Misfits song...that part was my idea) Awesome. Noticed the bicep tatto as well. I still rock an old Legacy of Brutality t-shirt to the gym.Congrats on the finish and best of luck with your future goals! I plan on getting into crossfit as soon as I get my back squared away. Looks like a lot of fun.
