Well, haven't posted, or lurked much on here, but here I am anyways. I've been making damn good progress as far as my physique goes.
In fall of 2009, I was 226 pounds, the heaviest I had ever been. You might say, "Oh that isn't too bad..." especially at 6' 2", but I felt like fucking shit and looked bloated I did nothing really substantial about it until spring of this year when I weighed in at 211. At that point in my life, I knew something had to change; the chance of getting laid was infinitely slim, my academic performance was slipping, and simply put I was miserable beyond belief (few freinds, being nearly broke, and extremely low self-confidence were a few of many additional factors contributing to that). This spring, I really started to watch what I ate, and I got a good healthy eating pattern established with light exercise, around 5 hours per week. At the end of spring semester I was down to 193, my self-confidence was up, I got a few new friends, and interactions with girls were much easier, my financial situation was not as ugly, and most importantly my academic performance shot back up to where it was supposed to be. I was becoming happy. Fast forward to early August of this year, I was down to 190, and I realized I had some more fat to cut out. I also wanted to gain more muscle mass, and I wanted to be toned. I measured my biceps at 12". Fast forward to now, I'm 181 lbs, my biceps are 13", and I've got faint washboard abs. Life hasn't been this good in quite a while. I'm not sure what the catalyst for this change was, or what caused me to continue to improve, but I believe the discipline of working out and monitoring my food intake helped to improve my life. Sure I may not be a womanizing playboy billionaire, but I'm doing damn well in school, I'm in decent shape (which will be good shape soon), my finances are much better off, and I've gotten together with some good female company. I hope this is at least barely inspirational. You can do it! Hell, you can probably do it even better; it just takes a pinch of work and a lot of will power. |

Congrats, that is a legitimately cool story, bro. What's your routine look like? It varies, but I usually lift 3x per week for about an hour each time and do about 2 hours of misc. exercise per week as well, like hiking, walking, or doing something active. For the weightlifting it's 3 sets of benching, curling, resisted crunches, and 3 sets of doing a military press. Also at work I've switched to doing logistics stuff, which is mostly hauling heavy shit around repeatedly for hours at a time.
