So my wife and I are competing this weekend here: http://tri-countyshakedown.com/?page_id=263 Should be a good time, our gym team took 8th at regionals a few weeks ago so we should have a pretty good showing here. The linked page is the descriptions of the workouts. Anyways..just bored at work and thought I'd share with those that might find it interesting

Quoted: Cool! Let us know how you do Will do. There's like 36 teams I think, my gym is fielding 2. The "A" team could easily finish in the top 3...I'm on the "B" team, and will have to do 30 out of the 40 muscle ups myself probably, so I'm hoping for a top 10 finish...we'll see. |

Good luck. I am hoping to get my wife to that stage over the next year as I would like to do local competitions with her. CF competitions are always fun, especially when it is a team event.
The next one I am doing is the Life as Rx Tour in August. I was convinced to sign up as an individual along with a few other guys I know, and I also know a group doing a team. This is a completely free event so I am sure there will be a ton of competitors. I don't expect to finish anywhere near the top. http://www.asrx.com/ustour/dallas/ |

Quoted: Yeah, we started about 3 1/2 years ago, and it's become part of our lifestyle now. We just recently got into competing, but we really enjoy it. It's good quality time together, something we both love, and of course it helps us stay attractive to each other (just being honest I think it's awesome that it's something you and your wife both do. ) after 4 kids and 10 years of marriage that's a good thing! She looks better now than when we got married...and I suspect I do too. Quoted: Good luck. Yeah, if you can get her involved I think you'll both be real happy. Good luck at your event too, I've seen some of your numbers in the WOD threads, you should finish decently I think. I'll update tomorrow night or Sunday with how it went...possibly even some pics if everyone can behave themselves. I swear to god if someone says something innapropriate about my wife I'm going to put a pic of myself up in tights or something lol... |

Great job to both you and your wife!
My wife and I do not get to workout side by side often, but I am now her trainer. We just left the CF box that we worked out at and now do everything at home. I am starting to train a few friends of ours in the mornings and evenings and my wife works out with them. |

I can't recommend participating in these sorts of things enough. Yeah, there were some real monsters there, but there were also plenty of beginners that were there to have a good time. Good luck to you guys, are you going to open your own gym? |

Quoted: Looks like yall had a blast! Your wife did an awsome DL! I know lots of 175# curl monkeys that cant do that ![]() Yes we did! I'll pass that on to the wife...she's starting to get a pretty decent fan base going at these local comps and from regionals, she has a great time showing up a lot of girls that are quite a bit bigger than she is! |

It happens man. Ellipticals are boring, maybe she'd have more fun with something else?? Nah, the only thing she has ever done was some cardio classes. We used to hike a bunch before she got pregnant. I've spent my whole life working out, her not so much... Bugs me cuz she has potential. But she is not a workout person... |

It was kind of weird, she's always been pretty thin but one day she was like "I'm skinny, but fat at the same time...I need to start doing something"....I said..."I heard about this thing called crossfit, want to check it out?" That was 3 1/2 years ago...before that she didn't really do anything, and I did the standard USMC PT....run/pull/situps and nothing more. We're both much better off for it. |

Many CF affiliates started out this way. Continue, and you could soon have your own box! Just keep adding the elements of a CF box over time, get the certs (I recommend a Coaches Cert, and not just a Level 1) and the affiliation paperwork, and affiliate. |

I hope to build enough of a base to have my own box by the end of 2012, and will actually affiliate once I get closer to that point. So far I have my Level 1 and CFE certifications, and planto get to through the CF Olympic Lifting cert this fall. I have a decent amount of equipment at home and can support 3-4 people working out at once. I just established my LLC today (North Texas Strength & Endurance) and just need to build things up over time. The wife and I have some debt to clear up first, then save a good cash reserve, and last save to purchase the remainder of the equipment I would need for a box. I don't want to open one up and start out with debt(loan) and want to have the cash to get some rowers, a good cage setup, plenty of bumpers, etc to start off right. |

Quoted: That would be awesome. Good luck! I'm just getting started teaching at my gym...not enough time with the .mil to open up my own. Maybe some day. I'd love to work out with my wife, but what do you do with the kids? I do mine at 8pm and she gets up early and does her gym work in the morning. |

Cool. Mine (6 and 4) are still a little too young for us to pull that off. ![]() I am right there with you. My two boys are 2 1/2 years and the other is 10 months... I get them to nap at around the same time in the afternoon and then strip down into the boxers and crank out my workout before they wake back up.... |

I have some homemade gymnastics rings in my garage, but I've been working out with some friends doing Crossfit workouts in one of their garages for the past year. He's officially opening a Crossfit gym in the next few weeks. I do Crossfit to get in shape, but more because I enjoy the camaraderie with the guys that I work out with; my wife actually loves the workouts themselves, but we never get to work out together. PS Congrats on your competition. Your wife can still whup me. I remember her kipping video, and the most I have ever done at a time is 20. Also not sure what my max deadlift is, but its probably something like what she did in the competition. |
