Yeah, great article...and a reminder to those trying out barefoot or minimalist shoes to BE CAREFUL and start SLOWLY! Listen to this. I got some minimalist shoes, went for a 5 mile run, got back and holy shit my legs were killing me. Took a few days to recover. Used muscles that were never used before. |

Yep, I did some 400m repeats thinking that WAS "easy". It was not. I'm at the point now where I'm good, but I don't put in a lot of miles either, and rarely anything over 3 miles at a time. |

Its an interesting blog post. About two weeks ago I started running again. I ran cross county in high school (20 years ago) and tried to start running again a few years ago. Within 3 weeks my knees were acting up and I was sidelined. About two weeks ago I started trying barefoot/minimalist running. Its early yet, but so far no knee problems. We'll see how things go, but so far so good.
The first week my calves were sore- but the good sore- when your muscles are used for the first time in a long time. I am starting really slow- I'm up to about a 15 minute run currently- five days a week. Next week I'm gonna bump it up to 20 minutes. |

I'm a victim also. I did 5 miles the day I bought them. When I woke up the next morning my calves hurt so bad I couldn't walk down the stairs. I had to scoot down on my butt. - had the same thing when I took time off and hit legs hard for the first time... Couldn't stand up off the toilet |
