Alright, I'm needing a reality check. I think I'm going a little overboard with trying to get fit. It's damn near all I think about. How to eat better, how to train better, etc. For crying out loud, I'm not even in that bad of shape. 6' and 175ish. Yeah, I'm not the strongest or fastest, but I've made progress.
I guess what gets me is all the info floating out there. How the hell am I suppose to know what is best for my goals? Low card, keto, low fat, high fat. Free weights, polymetrics, Crossfit. The lists go on and on. Eating right seems to be redefined every week. Seems like someone should have figured it out by now. Sorry about the mini-rant, but it seems the more focused on health I get, the more screwed up it gets. Now I am waiting on blood work because over the last few months, I've slowed down, got an unquenchable thirst, and lose my wind after a few hours at work. And I'm only in my early twenties. I've already got a few medical things that may keep me from serving, and I'm afraid this will become another one. Yeah, I know, CSB, but Ican't be the only one thinking like this, right? |

I suggest a low-carb Paleo-like diet and doing Starting Strength for several months to gain a good strength base. Lifting weights is hard and you might to "cheat" on your diet to get enough calories. A little milk won't hurt as long as you are lifting heavy.
After that, I would transition into a crossfit-type program where you are still lifting weights (not as much as before), but you add some high intensity intervals. |

I hear you man. I have a hard time just picking a goal. During the winter months all I think about it getting bigger/stronger then during the summer its leaner/faster. It can really make for a mind fuck.
I just try to tell myself that no matter what I'm doing it is better than what 99% of the rest of the country is doing. Also, there is always a latest "diet" that is the "only" way to do it. For the most part just keep it clean with minimal processing. I look at it this way, I work out way to hard to go fuck it up with a tipple chocolate fudge peanut butter banana sundae but at the same time I also work out to hard to not let myself eat whole grain bread, oatmeal, rice, ect.

Stay active doing something you like and life is good Amen to that. I'm a bit of an over achiever, so I guess that plays into it to. My mind keeps trying to streamline everything, but I'm not looking to be the next Arnold or Armstrong, just want to be healthy. I'll just stick to what I know works. Move heavy things, run sometimes, and keep moving as much as possible. Eat balanced meals full of lean meat and veggies. Maybe getting off Arfcom would help...
