I'm been doing weighted situps as an assistance exercise for a couple of years now. I've reached the point where it is not practical to put more weight on my chest as I do them, so I need to find another way to strength train my abs (i.e., something where I can add more weight as I get stronger).
Any ideas? |

EZ curl bar? I have a pdf from Rippetoe and Kilgore about this. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h287/ybbswinter/curls.jpg Start like the first pic but then do leg raises, both to one side - down to middle - both to the other side. Leg lifts often get passed, hang from the dips stand so you're resting on your forearms or hang from a pull-up bar. Not sure if you were doing those but it hits the DREADED LOWER ABS! lol |

Any ideas? What technique are you using now? I get on the decline ab bench while holding an EZ curl bar. I don't lift the bar over my head with each rep as in the picture above. I just hold it close to my torso right around the collar bone area. Theres always room for more gorwth with the EZ bar. |

Get on one side of a cable crossover with the pull down rope attached(like you are doing triceps pull downs). Your back should be the to the weight stack.. Get on your knees, hold the ropes at your shoulders and crunch down....
Attach rope loop to bottom hook of other side of machine.. Lay on your back with your feet at the stack.. Attach loop to your feet, crunch.. Stand with 45lb wheel at your side.. Lean to the side, stand up, all in the abs, not the shoulders.. Crunches on decline bench with 45lb wheel.. Superset all these and you will feel it.. |
