Ok I know this will piss some people off, but its the way things need to be...

In an effort to clean the user information and keep names useable across all future expansions, I am now forcing usernames to be changed to remove spaces and any special characters outside of dashes ('-') and underscores ('_')

I'll give things a few weeks to get cleaned up, then either go in myself to change names or lock out all posting from those accounts until they are changed.

I know this is an inconvenience, but at this point it's becoming necessity.

also, will all my previous posts show my new name ??

Someone must have once registered the user name "Critter" but I have never seen a post by him/her. If that is a long time inactive account, can you delete him/her and let me take it? It sure would be easier than having to keep typing that dang _fr all the time.

Critter that logo cracks me up...

Remember guys that his is only a change to your username (display name) so your login name wont change...

And everything (all posts) will be updated with your name on the fly... including the old ones.

Goatboy i sure wish i could change my name,but it won't let me. for over two years on the internet i've been madman kirk, this is what i'm known by on all firearm related boards plus some that are not ,it's my name. I don't know who madmankirk is , but he's not me. mmk

I'm confused. If I change my username, I would need to log-in under the new name, wouldn't I?
Can I change it completely, not just remove the "&" from "Lock&Load"? Thanks!

changed it to madman_kirk and also reset your timer in case you want to change it to something else...

There's two names to concern yourself with. One is the login name or account name. This is the one you login with. There's no restrictions on this being changed to conform with anything, as this is your personal entry point.

The second name is the one in question, and that's your display name. If you want them to match let me know, I can code a simple addition to the username change tool to make them match.

You can change the name to anything, it doesn't just need to be lock_load... it would be ar_warrior or something. Remember though that you can only change your username once per month. (wanted to keep things from going crazy on here with name changes.)

OK, I changed my name from "Lock&Load" to M4Madness. I would like to type in M4Madness when I log in also, so I guess you will have to make that change also. Thanks!

Hey GB, I emailed you, but I'm not sure if it got sent(changing servers) I logged on last night and it gave me a screen to alter my username. I did it so I could get in, but I didnt know you couldnt change it for 30 days.
I would like to change it, so could I be reset too ??
I dont plan on changing it again, this one was a carry over from several sports areas I frequent.

Along the lines of what critter aked, when I first came here my first choice "THOR" was taken.

Name is unfortunately used, although the person hasn't logged in for a bit.

Accounts will be cleaned which do inactive for 6 months.

Any which have never been logged into, will most likely be cleaned out soon.

I added the ability to make your login match your username change in the form. So if you want to change both you can do so.

To change your username just click on the user menu then look for the "change username" tool. It's pretty straight forward from there.

Heehee Critter, yer ok dontcha worry!

Uhm I'll take a pair of those Beta-Cs...

And finally, Letters and Numbers are pretty much all thats good with the exception of underscores and dashes!
