Connecticut Residents: The Democrats and Republicans have come out with their gun control proposals with some of them very draconian. Contacting your representatives is more important than ever. Many pro-gun organizations are holding a lobbying day on March 11th. Please attend if you can, we have already been told from some of our customers that they they are taking the day/half day off from work to attend. Attend Connecticut Lobby Day to Protect Your Rights on March 11 Come to Hartford to Let Your Voice be Heard On Monday, March 11, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the National Rifle Association, the Coalition of Connecticut Sportsmen and the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, will host a Lobby Day at the State Capitol in Hartford. Monday might be the only chance for your voice to be heard before anti-gun Democrats pass legislation to ban your modern sporting rifles and seek confiscation of the magazines you currently own. Democratic leadership has imposed March 13 as the date to act on the so-called emergency certified gun control bill. Connecticut manufacturers including Colt, Mossberg, Stag Arms, Mec-Gar, OKAY Industries, ASC, Ruger and Metalform will be directly affected by this legislation, resulting in the loss of good paying jobs and badly needed tax revenue to the state. Senate Democrats on the Task Force ignored any bipartisan cooperation that was earlier predicted and instead recommended far-reaching bans and confiscation that will impact each and every law-abiding Connecticut gun owner.
Your presence is needed this MONDAY to communicate with your state legislators that you oppose passage of sweeping anti-gun legislation which will only impact federally licensed dealers, manufactures, and law-abiding citizens. This might be your only opportunity to make your voice heard to your state lawmakers! We need every concerned citizen to show up in Hartford on Monday to demonstrate your opposition to these proposals! Details for the Lobby Day:
If you are unable to attend the Lobby Day in Hartford, please contact your state Senator and state Representative and urge them to vote against any rights-infringing legislation. Click here to view contact information for your state legislators. |

I wish you guys all the best, and hopefully you'll be able to stop at least some of the more draconian parts of the proposed legislation. Unfortunately, after seeing how the politicians have been behaving over the past 5 years, I don't think they give a rat's ass what the people want (at least not what the tax-paying /self-sufficient people want). It's already a done deal. The behind-closed-door deals have already been made, most of the legislation will go thru, there may be a few pieces of it they are willing to acquiesce on (throw us a bone), just to make it look like they tried to listen to all sides. But good luck nonetheless... |

CCDL (CT Citizens Defense League) is a great asset for us. http://www.ccdl.us/ they have a donate button. Buy a shirt or a hat... maybe raffle it off in the New England (mostly CT) Hometown Forum. |

It seems to me like the confiscation of higher capacity magazines would fall under expos facto. Not relevant. But it would (or at least should) constitute a taking under the 5th. ETA:The ex post facto clause applies to legislation that retroactively criminalizes an act that was legal at the time the act occurred. |
These states are just a start. No matter where you live, this could be on your states agenda eventually. EVERONE MUST STAND! Alittle time once a week would be better than an all out civil war fighting to take back what was taken away. We are law abiding citizens, and the globalists are using a terrible tragedy to disarm the american people. STAND AND DEFEND!

are you going to move states? Im going to be in FL by the end of the year if this house sells. Florida is not much better. The libtards there are trying to push a bill through that will require all ammunition purchasers to attend anger management. |

I am upset that these politicians take a horrific disaster, and use it to push gun reform in this country.
Registration isn't that bad unless they start charging you per gun. Here in Guam they charge $45 PER FIREARM. I'm just glad to be an FFL so I just pay $7 per firearm. We also require a firearms ID, which must pass a FBI, local, and fingerprinting check which takes weeks. Though it aint all bad, our politicians here are mostly pro-gun, We do not pay Federal excise tax, and we are not required to pay ITAR when manufacturing firearms. Also importing things are 100% tax free. We also have a 0.0% homicide rate with a firearm |

Hello everyone, please help with the fight.. write these legislators to express your opposition! (kindly for now)

You don't have to say what state you're from to get your message across. Its important to get these bills voted down or as many of them as possible because if they make it through Obama plans on using them as example and pushing them on other states. |

Wish I could be there, but I'll be in Atlanta on business. I feel like we are fighting a losing battle, if CO can lose then we really have no chance untill the likes of Colt, Mossberg, CMT/STAG, Mec Gar and others start standing up. Realistically, though, unless Colt does it the state won't care. I just bought a house, so I'm invested here for at least awhile. I feel like the best we can hope for is for them to go full retard so that we can take this to the courts and stop it for good, untill we get a court ruling, this will continue on. |

Good god, a confiscation? That is the most concerning part in my opinion. Confiscation could will lead to future problems... As someone who has experience in these deliberations, I can tell with a fair level of confidence that any language involving confiscation will be removed by the time it's voted on. In the name of "compromise," of course. |

I'll be there. I'm planning on parking at Cabelas and taking the shuttle. Hartford will be in gridlock, I think, if the number show that I think are going to show. I sure hope that the "organizers' (CCDL, NRA, etc. ) will have a podium someplace and there will be some speakers. I also hope the weather will be warm as they are predicting. I would be nice to wear lighter clothes if we're going be outside most of the day.
I'd sure hope to be able to meet some of you. I've decided that I'm going to put my forum handle on the back of my coat "Cabinetman". If you see me tap me on the shoulder and say hello. Rome |

These representatives have already made up their minds and have declared that the law abiding gun owners do not matter to them. What ever is being proposed will pass, and no one can do anything about it. Having said that, I will still be heading up to Hartford on Monday, and sacraficing a days wages for what I believe to be right.
Here is a response I recieved from my State rep: Dear cjt1972, Thank you for your recent email regarding your concerns about the legislature’s consideration of measures to address gun violence in our state. Following the tragic events in Newtown, and in response to the ongoing gun violence that continues to plague our cities, we reached across the aisle and invited our Republican counterparts to work with us to address the problem. The result was the creation of a Special Bipartisan Task Force on Gun Violence Prevention and Children's Safety. The Task Force has been divided into three Working Groups to focus on (1) reducing gun violence, (2) enhancing school security, and (3) ensuring the availability of mental health services in Connecticut. The Working Groups have held four informational forums and three public hearings here at the Capitol, and the entire Task Force held a public hearing in Newtown. They’ve heard from mental health professionals, chiefs of police, school security experts, gun owners and others. Additionally, we have collected testimony - both in person and online – from hundreds of individuals. The Newtown hearing was well attended, with moving testimony from families, first responders and area residents. Gun violence and our children's safety are not partisan issues, and I am pleased that Democrats and Republicans are working together. The eyes of the nation are on Connecticut in the aftermath of Newtown; we must take the lead and enact comprehensive, effective legislation. If you would like to share your thoughts on these critical issues, please visit www.cga.ct.gov/ASaferConnecticut Thank you again for taking the time to write and share your opinions with me. Sincerely, Cathy Osten State Senator of the 19th District They just don't give a fuck. |

I feel like I'm being sued by CT. They are not suing you, they are declaring war on you. I hope there are enough politicians left who are not part of the "they" collective. We have lost a few since 2001, but I hope this response to your testimony back then still applies: REP. FERRARI: I tend to agree with you on that. It certainly seems like an expansion to me. I think just one comment I'd make and that just because we're up here and this bill is before our Committee doesn't mean we all support it. I think that's fair to say and I know people were talking about you people, and you people this and you people that. Understand that there are probably number of us from both parties, from both Houses who are going to work very hard to see that this bill not survive the process because I believe it's what many people are saying today, is it does not react to, it doesn't prevent crime. It simply takes a protective right away from our citizens. |
