How many people have done a bedding job with JB Weld, Pros, Cons
I don't like JB weld itself but it'll work just fine. I find it to be brittle but boy it does work and lots of folks use it. Acraglass by Brownells is a better option and meant for the purpose so it won't fall victim to solvents used around guns. If you're just skim bedding then JB will do fine. Don't use the quick cure JB. It doesn't hold for squat. Make sure and give a good tooth to the substrate with a good low number abrasive (like 60 grit).
JB weld is ok for scope base bedding but not ok for action bedding. JB weld characteristically shrinks much more than the common bedding epoxys such as brownells acraglass, devcon, pro bed, marine tex. Stick with one of those, I am a big fan of marine tex and pro bed as i have had the best results using these. I also believe the consistency of pro bed is a little more forgiving for anyone new to bedding.
