I just bought a tikka t3 lite 308 and I'm looking around and different scope options.  My main use for the rifle is deer hunting in GA with most shots under 200 yds, but I want the ability to shoot out to 800 yards at the range.  Does anyone have any experience with this scope?  I don't have the money to buy the ATACR or NXS, but I would like a good scope that I can switch out to a nicer rifle in the future.

Also, for my purposes would you get the 4-14 or the 5-20?  Any other scopes in the $800-$1000 price range that you think are better options?  Thanks for helping this beginner!

It's also available in 3-10x42.  I am looking at the same line of scopes and am in the same situation.  Except I am leaning toward 30-06 in an M70.

10x should be plenty for 800 yard targets I would think.

The main reasons I would prefer the 3-10x42 is it's a smaller scope, and I like being able to get down to 2x or 3x for hunting.  The ones you listed would work well for smaller critters at distance IMO.
