Thanks everyone in advance my uncle picked up a 308 oracle 16" from DPMS we threw some magpul moe on it and a SSAE in it. I think it weighed in at about 9lbs and would shoot 1moa its a good rifle. |

ArmaLite has several 308 models in the AR style. I have an AR10(T) that is reasonably weighted given the 20" free-floated barrel. It comes in at about the same weight as comparable 20" AR15 rifles. Pricing is well in line with match grade 308 AR products from other vendors. The accuracy is uncanny off the bench, and beats a smaller caliber hands-down at ranges near 800 yrds.
Many (ArmaLite included) AR10 models don't have upper/lower receivers and/or parts that are interchangeable between brands. |

DPMS GII. Remington, Remington Defense, and Adams Arms are all coming out with models as well. 2A Armament is working on the Xanthos, I don't think it's going to be GII pattern though, so even being lightweight, it still won't be as light as it could be. I saw the G2 but I really want to build one myself any clue if they will be selling stripped lowers and stuff? |

That was kinda my fear! Any recommendations for light weight lowers? Wait for 2A to come out with theirs or for GII parts to come out, those are the options. The AR10 market just isn't as big as the 15 market, so there's not as much support or as many options. |

I think there is a lot more weight to play with on the uppers (handguard and barrel) than there is on the lowers. The lower has to be a lot bigger just so the BCG etc has room for the 7.62.
You might save an ounce or two on the lowers but you could be talking pounds with handguard/barrel/stock choices. |
