I am looking at purchasing the Howa 1500 in 308 flavor. My only real hesitation is the stock. Howa owners, to you feel any flex at the front of the stock using bipod or bags? If so, does it effect your accuracy? Thanks in advance.

If you are concerned about the stock, why not buy the barreled action and pick out your own stock or chassis?

I dont have a howa 1500 but i do have a weatherby vanguard wich is the same thing with very few differences. The stock on the weatherby is really nice and sturdy. It was ment to touch the barrel up front to help with hermonics. Ether one is a really good choice

I've got a 1500 and it shoots great. I put a Harris bipod on it and there is no flexing.
Beware, if it comes with a Nikko Sterling optic be prepared to replace it if you're planning on going out past 400 meters with it.
I've got a new optic on its way from optics planet

I have one of the barreled actions.
Why not get one of those instead and get a Boyds stock or even a Bell and Carlson Stock both will serve you well

I have the HCR, so no flex since it's an aluminum chassis system.

I have the Mini Action in 6.5 Grendel, never any flexing, but it's a pretty mild cartridge.

I also have a Vanguard but with the synthetic stock. Which is just a rebranded Butler Creek injection molded stock.  The forearm flexes.  But it's so light weight l've been real reluctant to spend money on a stiffer, and heavier, stock.

It's a .30-06 hunting rifle.  Carried more than shot and accurate enough for deer and elk.

I've had a few with one of the old plastic Butler Creek stocks, both varmint contour.  Moved them both to laminate.  Both were sub moa in their original and replacement sacks.

I am also wanting to pick up a 1500 in .308 , I will be buying the barreled action and finding a stock for it.  brownells and pacific tool and gauge have been the only places so far where I have found the barreled actions. Anyone know a decent retailer where i could pick up the action I'm wanting? Thanks
