If I remember right there were a few threads about people getting R700 for around 600 bucks and building it they way they want. I am looking at a shorty build. I am looking at 3
1- https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/2084_36_57_981/products_id/81886 2- https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/2084_36_57_981/products_id/69321/Remington+700+SPS+TACT+AAC-SD+308+Hogue+Overmolded+Ghillie+Green 3- https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/2084_36_57_981/products_id/42070/Remington+700+SPS+Tactical+308win all are in 308 I don't know anything about other calibers except for 308, 300 win, and 338 Laupa. I have always wanted a r700 5R and ended up buying one and loved it, I sold it 5 years ago in a shitty divorce. I was told to not buy the 5R again and start with the ones above. I plan on getting a suppressor for it and leave it in AL. We are relocating there within a year. So what do you think? I am open to different calibers, I don't know what the cool kids are shooting but I have a reloading press. |
| I have the 700 SPS TACT AAC-SD in 308 and it's a great shooter. The threaded barrel and running suppressed and nice on this one. If you want a real shortee and depending on whether you want a long range shooter or hunt gun up to 300 meters... the Rem Model 7 AAC in 300 blackout with a 16" threaded barrel is one of my favorite bolt rifles. For reference, I paid ~$600 ea for both of these rifles last summer. |
| My range goes out to 600 yds. I have a Savage 10 fp SR that I am trying to get to be my 600+ gun. I think the 16.5 inch barrel will be too small. I am looking through the picture thread but there is no info so I have no clue what model I am looking at or barrel length so it's a little tough. I remembered there were a few threads that were pinned and it was how to buy one of these and build it on a budget. I have a 1-1.5k-ish budget for everything. Optics will be Vortex I am just looking for a R700 I can build. |

there's a Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 that was just posted for $500 shipped in EE....no it's mine or affiliation to the buyer. I just noticed it and thought of your thread. Thanks I contacted him. I am heading to Cabelas tomorrow. I want to see how big the difference is between 16inches and 20 inches. I do like the thought of a threaded barrel. |

having to sell stuff for a divorce sucks, BTDT I have a 700PSS I will never get rid of. If I were to build one, I'd be looking at some sort of AI AW clone. (just went to AI's website.. dang, things have changed... ) I'd also consider .338 .... too many choices, not a lot of motivation |

What stock is this? Does anyone know? I like the fact that it has ports instead of the little nubs it looks clean. I looked at manners site and it looks like a MCS T3 or a MCS TA

Take a look at the Howas. Well built with a better trigger than the Remingtons.
