| So I am getting a Remington 700 Sendero in .223. It comes with a 26 inch barrel. I have a yhm phantom qd suppressor I plan on throwing on it. I was wondering what length I should go with. I was thinking about chopping it down to 20. Primary uses will be paper and steel with occasional predator hunting. |

Normally I'm a long barrel kind of guy. But with my Sako AI that's been cut to 20" I can still get 3250FPS with a 50gr Nosler Ballistic Tip and Hodgdon Benchmarck, with good accuracy to boot. I've gone higher but the groups start to fall off. Now, mines a skinny barrel gun and it's extremely light. With a heavy barrel I'd stick to 24" even with a can. But that's just me. |

I wouldn't go that far, especially when shooting heavy bullets with slow powders. I don't see how reloading has anything to do with it either. The powders we reload with are the same burn rate as what the commercial loaders are putting in their ammo. |

Is the barrel large enough at 26" to have a decent shoulder? Quoted:

So at 26 inches would adding 1.5 pounds of suppressor be a huge issue? I will most likely only be shooting it suppressed. Is the barrel large enough at 26" to have a decent shoulder? Yes it is I think I am going to keep it at 26 and see how it does. |
