It took a while, the hurricane definitely messed stuff up for us, but we have everything built into the best M40 clone ever made! SSgt Meyers did an unbelievable job turning a pile of original circa 1966 USMC used/surplus M40 take-off parts and a circa 1966 civilian Remington M700 receiver into one of the most amazing M40 clones in existence! SSgt Meyers is one of the best USMC 2112 armorer out there, and he's the only 2112 who knows every tiny detail about every single M40xx variation from 1966 to the current issue rifles (and he's able to build all of these M40xx rifles 100% to their original specs)! This M40 clone build is an unbelievably amazing rifle that was build by an amazing Marine 2112 armorer with original USMC M40 parts, so it doesn't get any better than this for collectors! There's about $15k in parts to build the rifle, and the completed rifle is probably worth around $20k with this provenance. Don't miss out on this one, we're never going to raffle off another circa 1966 M40 clone like this ever again! https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1000016286-jpg.8553835/ https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1000016287-jpg.8553836/ https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1000016292-jpg.8553933/ https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1000016289-jpg.8553934/ We even used the original Remington "US" rollmark from 1966 to mark this receiver! Jake made a rig to mark Remington 700 receivers in the correct location! This is a first for an M40 clone and it makes the rifle that much better!!! https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1000016288-jpg.8553837/ https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1000016285-jpg.8553840/ https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1000016284-jpg.8553839/ And we also decided to add a CMP military surplus 1911 pistol as a 2nd place prize!!! I also donated this pistol, and I think it's a great 2nd place prize that matches the 1966 M40 clone pretty well! Here's photos of the actual 2nd place prize pistol in this raffle: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1000016217-png.8553842/ https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/attachments/1000016216-png.8553843/ https://scoutsniperheritage.org/scout-sniper-war-memorial-fundraiser/ |

As far as the barrel goes it has to be machined by the smith installing it. Rock creek was the original supplier but bartlien supplied them also and are considered a correct stand in. So just grab a m24 profile barrel, I had bought mine from bugholes. As far as the receiver goes we’re m24’s made with a c prefix? I’ve only seen G and RR. |
|
Funny enough I just spoke to Russell from Rock Creek and Robert from RW Snyder about my M24A2 build just this afternoon. Rock Creek is working on a batch of M24 correct barrels with a few spots left I believe. They're 26" M24 profile so perfect for what you were looking for. They won't be ready until February time is what Russell told me I think. Robert at RW said he'd be able to profile the Rock Creek barrel for an AE can and cut and thread for the right pitch. He's going to do my complete build once my stock ships from Stocky's in March. |

I guess I'm not sure what prefix I'd need for that year and what range was used. |

I guess I'm not sure what prefix I'd need for that year and what range was used. Those are very early M40A3 rifles, so they need an early A3 receiver. You need an "E" prefix receiver, since the Corps started getting those around 1999/2000, ans that's what the earliest A3's were built from. The Corps didn't start getting the "G" prefix receivers until about 2005, which is after the silenced A3's were created. Use an E prefix for your build. |

I'm looking for any info that anyone may have about it. If it was used on any military rifles, when it was used, who used it, etc. Its a ffp pm2 but with a mk248 mod 1 turret. The turrets look different than other stuff I've seen as well. I'm more a nightforce guy and not super knowledgeable about the s&b stuff. I'm not sure if the reticle is something special either. https://i.imgur.com/dEJY4v4.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/Lm6j9U8.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/kxxiKar.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/SknYrwv.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/v5Ock3K.jpeg Thanks! Tom Eta, I know the caps and lever aren't correct. That's a military (Army?) scope for the Mk13 Mod 5. I think one or two photos are out there showing these tall Mk248 BDC turret scopes on Mod 5 rifles. So, drop it on a Mod 5 build if you have one. It's a pretty rare scope, there's far less of these in private collections than other S&B scopes like the original USMC M8541 scopes. Even though your scope is more rare than a legit USMC M8541 scope, it's also worth far less than the original USMC M8541 scope. This is because the demand from collectors is pretty low, most likely due to the lack of information on this type of scope and the lack of photos of these scopes in use by the military. Less known, less info, less provenance, etc. leads to lower prices on the collector market, but it still has a pretty high rarity. I hope this helps explain some of it. It's definitely an interesting US military scope for the .300WM Mk13 Mod 5 sniper rifles, but it's probably not worrh more rhan $4k. |

That is a beauty of a scope, the reticle is an early version of a Finnaccuracy MSR2, left side ladder and right side are graduated in mil and are used for ranging, right side is a stadiametric i think calibrated at 1m height and 0.5m width for each stadia so the 4 is for 400m range and 1m height and the horizontal bar is for 0.5m width, 8 is 800m and 1m and 0.5m etc etc.. match your target size to the stadia and read the range, 1m is about a male torso height size ~40inch, shoulder width 0.5m ~20inch dial in your dope and hit - it is a sniper reticle. Left side is also a ranging ladder say you see window of a car at some range since they are ~20inches tall give or take measure the angular extent with the reticle and you have a range solution dial in and hit, (if only it was that easy LOL) check the web site for a Manuel ;) and description https://finnaccuracy.com/pages/msr-reticle-development-and-features Kahles, Steiner and SB use these reticles I have them on my scopes and have learned to really really like em. The scope can be serviced by S&B if needed |

I took a Commercial MRAD and tried to get it as close as possible to an actual Mk22 - in particular, Big Army's version. I'm debating grabbing one of the contract .308 20" barrels to make it look even closer, but I'm pretty happy with this. I also have the contract Mk22 Armageddon Gear suppressor cover, but left it off for these pics. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |
