Hello guys, I have a quick question regarding a new CZ 527 rifle I just purchased chambered in 7.62X39. The rifle didn't come with rings, and I definitely want to use glass with this rifle, and I'm curious as to what some of you are running with this same rifle?

If it helps at all, I want to keep this rifle as  compact as possible, meaning I'm looking for glass in the 1.5 to 5 power range. With this being said, I've noticed that you can purchase medium as well as high scope rings, and I wasn't sure as to what would work best with the type of glass that I plan on running. I'm also curious if I should stick with CZ factory rings, or go aftermarket. I hope some of you may be able to help me. Thanks again.

My 527 is one of the models without irons so it came with factory rings. They're nice and work boringly fine. Could probably be a little lower though. Otherwise I would recommend them.

Congrats on the new gun! Mine has been a total joy.

So would you recommend the medium or high rise rings?

I have a 527  7.62x39.   I am pretty sure I have MED rings  ( CZ PN 19002 ) because I don't think they offered anything other than one set of 1" and one set of 30MM rings.

I have an older Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 on it,  The sight is present, but not in the way of anything.   However because of the long bolt handle the rings needed to be pretty high, and IIRC it was close enough that I could not have a scope cover on it.      The above PN is for a height of .550"

I always like to go as low as possible, especially on something with a stock set up for irons. That being said, bolt handle is a concern too. Try and find a shop that sells the rings and bring your rifle and scope down and I am sure they could get you squared away on whichever set is the better fit.

I went with the Primary Arms 1-6 300Blk/7.62X39 scope on mine and the initial set of Warne rings did not allow the bolt to cycle by a hair. Had to up them to the next height (I think from medium to high). I really liked that scope for a scout type of application. Also be aware the rear iron sights may block the use of larger scopes. I know my Accupoiunt 2.5-10 will not work with either of those rings.

I have a bunch a CZ527s and have had more in the past. I like Warne rings on mine personally.

I would not go with CZ factory things. They're heavy, overbuilt, and they come with slotted screws that suck bad. I've had the heads strip many times. Why they ship such a nice rifle with those things, I'll never understand.

Do you know what year your rifle is? It's probably stamped on the barrel. If you end up with scope clearance issues, see if you have the old style bolt handle or new style. The new style gives you more clearance. CZUSA should have them available, I bought one to replace an old style bolt handle a couple years ago.

Here's the difference, old style and then new style.
