| Im looking into building an m40. Not the A1 the original M40. Would the barrel profile from a 700 sps varmint be correct if it was cut down to 24 inches? I know its not a 1:10 twist but im not that picky. Thanks! |

Not sure if serious....

http://www.douglasbarrels.net/contours/index.html Rem varmint 007. Or find an old old Rem Varmint Special barrel. Either way would be correct, as Douglas apparently made the replacement barrels for M40's. |

The original Viet Nam era barrels were Bartlein. |

I had one built for me several years ago. You need to contact Mike La he owns Texas Brigade Armory. He will turn the barrel to the correct dimensions and can stamp the barrel with the correct codes. He can also stamp the receiver. You will not be disappointed. Mine is a Douglas supreme and it is a tact driver
