Got the first major component of my latest build in this week.  My XLR Carbon chassis should be here in another week then it goes off to the gunsmith to have the Krieger he's installed cut to length and threaded.  I'll post more pics once she's all put together but here are the specs:

Rem700 SA
Krieger MTU 8 twist .224 cut about 1/4" longer than the chassis forearm
XLR Carbon chassis
Timney 510
Atlas bipod
Seekins scope rail pinned to the receiver
Surefire SOCOM 556RC
Alamo Four Star DLOC-M4X scope mount (hoping it will clear the chassis forearm)
Vortex Razor HD Gen2 3-18x50
AADland Engineering scope caps

Hoping I'm only a few weeks out from a complete rifle

Nice parts list.

I have a couplel XLR Chassis.  I am 3 weeks away from my third which will be for a 300 WM (currently have them for a heavy 223 and 6.5 Creedmoor).

The Alamo looks a little short.  I am using Seekins / Vortex 30mm / 1.26" rings on all my rifles and use the Vortex PST 6-24x50 FFP MIL/MIL EBR-2C.  I have about 1/8" to 1/4" clearance using BC caps.  The 3-18 Razor has the same objective lens size as the PST.  I am also using a Savage action vs your Rem 700.  What is the height of the rings?

Heavily considering one of the Gen II Razors. I think I will go for the 4.5-27 though.

I'm not sure, I tried to get a measurement but it was tricky due to the layout of the mount.  It'll be close and may not work but I've got my fingers crossed.

Everyone I know that has that scope loves it. I havent had a chance to do a side by side with it and anything else, but it does seem very crisp and bright. On a side note I just got my aadmount caps and love them. So much better than the Butler Creek units, though you definitely pay for them.

I have 5 PSTs and will likely pick up a Razor Gen2 at the end of the year. The AAD scope covers seem to be the ticket, but that is a $500 upgrade to cover all my current scopes :(

They aren't cheap but with a lifetime warranty and considering it usually takes me less than two weeks to break a Butler Creek I figured it was money well spent.  I'll come out ahead in the long run.

I came to the same conclusion. I keep wearing out the BC's I buy.

I put the scope/mount onto an AR15 and it clears with plenty of room.  I tried this same mount with my US Optics 3.2-17x on my XLR Evolution, it cleared the forearm clamp but wouldn't work due to the large turret block on the scope (couldn't get the scope far enough back).  Looking at the XLR Carbon, the forearm clam is a different design and doesn't look to come up as high above the receiver as the Evolution.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will work, I'd love to avoid spending another $150 on rings and having this mount laying around doing nothing.
