I'm trying to decide which rifle to get. It will be used for mostly paper punching and some hunting. I will mostly be shooting 100-300yds never more than 500yds. Will the 5R barrel on the model 10P out weigh the advantages of the accessories on the model 10FCP-SR?

#2 if you go that route.

I vote for #1 if you are looking only at 20" barrels.

The barrel on the FCP-SR is fluted, and does not seem to be quite as good of a shooter, plus they do not have the Accustock now.

If you are shopping at Cabala's, and willing to step up to a 24" barrel, I highly recommend the 10T over either of those.

Better velocity with the extra 4", plus it includes a scope rail.

I had a 10P and it was ok with 168gr SMK, but it did nit like 175's.  My pre-2014 model FCP-SR is a great rifle but the new 2015  model isn't what it used to be.  Have you looked at the Precision Carbine?

#1 for the simplicity.
#2 for the DBM and scope base.
There is something to say for simplicity though for the uses you are describing.
So 1, and put that extra money on a very good scope.
That's money well spent.

I just bought one of these last week.  They are on sale for $539 and they have a $100 rebate right now.  Pretty good deal.  All said and done I will have $470 after the rebate and taxes.

Wow that's a deal. I'm going to have to pick one up for my wife, it's exactly what she is looking for. It's a bit long and heavy for what the OP is looking for I think though.

I just picked up the 10 fcp sr 20" from Grabagun for $608 with $100 mail in rebate. Their version is the normal Savage model with the accustock.

Hell yea.

I wonder if this applies to the left hand models as well.
