I have a stock 10/22 would like to start assembling parts for a somewhat budget build.I have an older Leupold M8-4 X 33mm scope with a Duplex reticle,it is a fixed power .Wondering if that would be enough scope for a 100 yards.Any suggestions would be appreciated ref scopes, stocks etc.

Check out the ABRA web site, the auto bench rest association. They make have lots of good stuff for 10/22s and its better and probably cheaper than some of the Kidd crap.  Why buy a Kidd barrel from an unknown mfg when you can have a shillin for the same money. I'm not an auto 22 shooter but I've seen his auto's tangle with bolt guns at matches.  It's worth a look and they are easy to contact.   As far as scopes go, it depends on the size of targets your going to be shooting. Most guys shooting benchrest matches will be using 36x on the low end.  8x would be fine for bouncing cans and misc shooting. But for a 50yd target for score, 8x would tough.

True, Walther barres are not bad, I had a blank put on a H&R M12 and it shot pretty good. But I've yet to see them out shoot shilens. The Walters are definitely a step above the factory barrel. How much does a Kidd barrel cost compared to a shilen or a Lilja?   I just looked up a shilen Cromemoly match and it's listed at $279.
