I picked up a lightly used TGr-42 in .338 to match my .308 TRG-22. Got to the range after mounting my US Optics SN-3. Fired a few shots and noticed my rounds were hitting very high. I was not able to adjust to allow for a 100yd zero. Slightly disappointed I brought the rifle home to trouble shoot it where I didn't have to worry about Mexican gang bangers ND'ing a few tables down.  After some quick observation it appears the 42 came with a 45MOA can't base instead of a 25MOA as the previous seller advertised. No big deal...ill go get another. I wish near marked their bases with the cant amount....  Would have saved me 15 rnds of .338LM. Is there any expectation that an optic should be able to be zeroed at 100 with a 45MOA base, or would I be limited to something past a 500 or 600 if zero?

I got a 100yd zero with a PMII on a 44.4 MOA mount.

With a .338 LM I would take the offset 100yd zero in exchange for the max elevation I could dial.

My thinking as well- accept the offset zero for close in.  How often will you shoot up close with this rifle?

I'll be hunting with it so I want max flexibility. I guess I'll be going to a 45 MOA mount. It should still allow me to get out to 1700 yds.

I had a 40 moa on my 700. My Leupold Mark4 and IOR both zeroed at 100, when I got my new barrel they no longer would so I had to go to a 30 moa. Kind of sucks losing a few mils of elevation but I cannot find a range near me where I can even use the 17.5 mils I have now....
