Am seeing allot more posts about Prime ammunition. Allot of praise. I don't know anything about them. Looked around there web site but didn't find answers to my questions about the. Hope someone here can shed some light on this. Do they make there own brass and bullets? Do they blend there own powder like Hornady does? Better than Hornady or other top ammo makers? I never see it on the shelves. I reload 308 and soon 6.5 creedmoor. Better than reloading your own? Appreciate any comments. Thanks.

Pretty sure this helps answer some of your questions:

"Prime Ammunition is loaded by RUAG, and uses Norma Brass and the Norma 130gr bullet."

That's from the Snipers Hide 260 ammo review and I've seen the same posted about the 6.5 brass as well.

Everything on the 6.5 points to it being as accurate or more accurate than the Hornady 140 ELD-M and 143 ELD-X, but each rifle is different. Prime 6.5 seems to get a little lower SD & ES than Hornady ammo. I highly doubt you'll see it on shelves, and believe it's only sold online (at the moment). Maybe local to where they are at it is sold in some gun shops, I don't know.

Better than reloading your own? I doubt it...once you find a primer, powder and bullet combo that your gun loves, it's hard to beat it. That 142 SMK load that put 4 shots into a sub-0.25 MOA hole that I posted some pics of on here will likely be more accurate than the 130 Prime, and my SD/ES were 4 & 8 respectively. Granted guys are getting high single digit SDs sometimes out of Prime 6.5.

It's appeal is that in most 6.5 guns it seems to shoot 0.75 MOA or better (mostly half MOA or better). That's nice for factory ammo that's possibly cheaper than the Hornady stuff. But ultimately a good reloader can likely make a rifle shoot better with hand loads.

I hand load but I'll be buying a case of 130 Prime 6.5 when it comes available again

Hope that helps you out

md is correct. Prime is good stuff. Frank on the 'hide likes it a lot, but then again, I am sure he gets very favorable pricing on it. But even he handloads for competition. No factory load, match or otherwise, will ever be as good as a load you developed for your particular rifle. I am by no means an expert reloader and even I have a load for my LTR and custom 700 that far out shoots FGMM. I still buy some factory match ammo to bang steel at distance where small groups arent as important but most of the time I shoot my handloads.
