I am planning to upgrade my scope. Currently I'm running a Burris Tac 30 w/ a Burris PEPR mount. I plan on going with the new Leupold VX-6 1-6x Multigun, and I want a new mount that is Quick Detach so that I can swap over to a dedicated .22lr upper for practice without having to rezero after. I have been wanting to go with the Warne RAMP mount as they have a great reputation, do a lot for the sport and are local (always good to help a local company), but no QD.

What are you guys using for QD? Or is QD even required? Also, I'm trying to stay at or under $150 (which will probably limit my options)

Thanks in advance
Jarod

All my AR optics are in LaRue QD mounts.

Odds are you WILL have to re-zero, but not because of the mount.
You are going between two different uppers in two different calibers.
No doubt you will "mark" the knobs or note the settings for the two set-ups.
Would you trust going to a major match with just the settings without ever firing a shot to confirm?
Answer... you will probably test and re-zero.
Buy a Warne or JP if you want a speedy off and on (big external fasteners)
Or a little slower to dismount is the non QD LaRue.
All of them will hold to the $150 mark and give you a repeatable mount.

Alamo Four Star's DLOC M4x30mm

the DLOC clamping mount features greater purchase area to the Picatinny rail than many other popular throw lever mounts and also will not degrade your rail each time you rotate that throw lever back and forth...

I am wondering why you want to take it off at all. Taking it off in many cases will lose zero and that is a hassle you don't really want. Plus the zero for a .22 upper is significantly below that of .223, as much as a full foot at 50 yards. My suggestion would be to keep the scope on your .223 and instead buy a cheap 1-4x scope for use on the 22 upper. I was in the same boat, coming from a rimfire competition background and USPSA/IDPA pistol. I tried the CMMG conversion route and while it works perfectly the zero is so far different from the .223 is is not really usable with the same optic. Another method is getting a S&W M&P AR15-22 and setting it up like your AR. Already had one of those I used for the last two Ruger Rimfire World Championships. That works better for me. Both have S3G triggers anyway, so added a long alloy handguard to the 15-22, and now I can use the same mechanics as my 3-Gun AR in a little lighter package. In your case if you have settled on a dedicated upper I would just mount a relatively cheap 1-4x scope on the upper and use that. Then both will have properly zeroed scopes on them for practice or a match. Currently my 15-22 has an Aim Sport 1.5-4x30 than comes with a decent clone of the PEPR and cost less than $120. However I am upgrading my AR to a Vortex Razor HD II 1-6x24, and I found that the Firefield (Sightmark) 1-6x24 ($170) makes a good substitute on the 22 for the Vortex.

I am a huge fun of anything Larue.  I am also using a Bobro QD mount on my GRSC 1x4 scope.  Awesome reasonably priced mount.

I would try out the QD mounts from Talbot. A mount is not something you want to scrimp on. It will only cause you major headaches in the long run.

+1 for Larue.  Top notch, rock solid.

I have both a BOBRO and a LaRue.  They both are great.  I have had better luck with repeatability on the BOBRO.  I tested both mounts, and the repeatability is marginal out to about 250.  Beyond that is where the BoBro shines.  My primary is now in the BoBro.  My backup upper sports the LaRue.

Of course, YMMV.

I am going to try Bobro for all my new mounts. Not buying from Larue anymore.

I have the Larue LT104 and  I called and asked them before I bought about the repeatability of zero when remounting. They  told me they guarantee .5 moa or less change on their QD mounts when removed and remounted.
